She has become part of the 22

Jamie Brunette

"Jamie Brunette was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a captain, an entrepreneur and an inspiration. She was full of life; a shining star in a world that can be so dark. She lit up every room she entered with her smile; it radiated from her heart to her face.

Jamie served our country in the Air Force for 11 years and was promoted to a Captain in 2014. With a burning passion for physical fitness and an entrepreneurial spirit, she had recently purchased an Orange Theory Fitness franchise to pursue her dream. Jamie was smart, ambitious and unstoppable. The world was at her fingertips."

On February 9 th this young lady took her life while battling with the demons many of us veterans do today. At what point will someone say enough is enough. Im so sick and tired of hearing about the 22. I have lost 4 friends I served with to suicide. I and a few of the Marines I did my first tour with saved one of our Corpsman from taking his life. It was one of the most pity and sad filled moments of my life. The government is good at recruiting, training and deploying us. When it comes to bringing us home and taking care of issues they suck. When will it stop? I dont know what Im going to do but once Im out Im going to make a difference. If I can keep a brother or sister alive and help them fight these demons I will. This is just getting so out of hand. So what can you do? Talk to your Rep. Tell them enough is enough, tell them to take care of our own before outsiders. We are soo concerned with letting illegals in and giving them a good life but fuck our veterans right. I dont see how peoples priorities can be so backwards. A member here once said to help combat this they just tell their friends not to join. What does that do for the people who are messed up in the head? How about telling friends to light a fire under their congressmens ass. Something needs to change.

I agree that this is a horrible problem and that our government has been remiss in ALL veteran's care, both mentally and physically. It makes me ill.

I'm so sorry about this beautiful girl, and can only pray for her family and friends, and for those veterans who feel so hopeless, in the face of insurmountable problems.

Last night, I finally uncovered a box of my father's military "things". I hugged them, wishing for him. Daddy will have been dead for 30 years on Feb. 22nd. It's been a long wait to see him again, but I know that one day, we'll meet again.

God Bless all those who serve in our military!

Jason, this lack of concern for vet's has been going on for decades. It's damn sad, that it is still going on.

This lady, with all the world in front of her, is another victim of a blundering VA and the talk (not action) of our politicians.

This went on after WWI, and the veterans marched on Washington, DC. More power to them! Uncle Louie wasn't there that I know of, but he talked about it.

What's really sad is that it takes an event involving an attractive young woman to garner attention . The guys who do themselves in ... not so much .

Petey, there has been plenty of attention, articles etc about male service members that have committed suicide. This young lady will garner no more attention from the politicians than the males that have committed suicide.
