NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Will Take Place Without Fans
WOW.
==========================================
The NCAA announced this afternoon that the national tournament for men and women's basketball will be held in stadiums empty of all but essential personnel.
March Madness will be played in front of empty arenas.
Someone knows something about how bad this epidemic is going to get.
The WHA has officially declared this a pandemic.
That has to be creepy for the players not hearing the roar of the crowds.
Disheartening is more like it. For most of these players this would normally be the highlight of their lives as athletes up til now. Playing in empty arenas will change the whole experience.
I read that family members of the players, if cleared, will be allowed to attend.
What happens when a player gets it? His team forfeits?
I guess it would be impossible to re-locate away form the massive arenas to smaller locations, like a H.S. gym, where the atmosphere would be similar.
Will they utilize a 10 second tape delay? Will the TV commentator's outbursts disrupt the players on the court? Will a coaches outburst towards referees result in more technicals?
This should be really interesting. The memories !
Right on cue. NCAA is considering changing venues for the regionals and finals.
