- Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York has declared a state of emergency for New York and its suburbs. He says subway service will be limited beginning at 7 or 8 p.m. ET. He warns: "It is a serious blizzard. It should not be taken lightly."
- 60 million people are under a winter weather alert, and 28 million are in the "zone of potential blizzard conditions," The Weather Channel reports.
Thousands of flights were scrapped, schools were closed and big cities readied fleets of snowplows and salt-spreaders on Monday as the Northeast steeled itself for what forecasters said would be a blockbuster winter storm.
Predictions for snow totals were something of a moving target, but meteorologists said they expected the Boston area to get more than 2 feet by Wednesday morning, and New York as much as a foot and a half all of it accompanied by strong winds and blizzard conditions.
Gov. Dannel Malloy of Connecticut ordered cars and trucks off the state's roads beginning at 9 p.m. ET and warned people that power could be out for some time.
"It is imperative that you have a plan in place to get home safely this evening," he said at a press conference.
Logan Airport in Boston said no flights would take off or land after 7 p.m. Monday or all day Tuesday. In all, more than 5,000 flights scheduled for Monday and Tuesday were canceled. The flight-tracking site FlightAware said that practically nothing would be flying into and out of New York on Tuesday.
Schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut announced they were closing early or altogether.
Keep our friends out east in your thoughts.
71 and sunny here today. BEACH TIME!!!
Oh, I'm so jealous, it's 23 here!
I am saying a prayer for all of my friends, (and everyone else, too), that lives within the storm's path. I sincerely hope that your power stays on-- because if it doesn't, it's a REAL bummer, AND that CO and CO2 does not accumulate!
Please use your gas grill only in the garage with the door cracked to let in fresh air... Same for charcoal grills. Can't lose people to Carbon monoxide poisoning!!
Take care, y'all!
Thanks Dear Dowser...good advice!!
For some reason all I scanned from that headline was blizzard bears... and I googled it.. and here is what came up
So... you're welcome for that.. .:)
I kind of miss snow... I moved to the northwest and I'm from the rockies... and I actually miss shoveling the sidewalk. I want to go home.

If nothing else, it gives people something different to talk and complain about!
Off hand, I can't think of any place that has perfect weather...
