National Security: Undercutting Trump, Barr says there’s no basis for seizing voting machines, using special counsels for election fraud, Hunter Biden
Said he did not intend to appoint a special counsel to investigate allegations of voter fraud — again breaking with President Trump as the commander in chief entertains increasingly desperate measures to overturn the election.

Earlier this month, Barr broke with President Trump on his unfounded allegations of voter fraud, telling the Associated Press he had “not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”

At a news conference to announce charges in a decades-old terrorism case, Barr — who has just two days left in office — was peppered with questions about whether he would consider steps proposed by allies of the president to advance Trump’s claims of massive voter fraud.

Barr said Monday that he saw no basis for the federal government seizing voting machines and that he did not intend to appoint a special counsel to investigate allegations of voter fraud — again breaking with President Trump as the commander in chief entertains increasingly desperate measures to overturn the election.

“If I thought a special counsel at this stage was the right tool and was appropriate, I would name one, but I haven’t, and I’m not going to,” Barr said.

Similarly, Barr said he would not name a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, President-elect Joe Biden’s son, who revealed earlier this month he was under investigation for possible tax crimes.

Barr said the investigation was “being handled responsibly and professionally” by regular Justice Department prosecutors, and he hoped that would continue in the next administration.

Trump's head will be exploding any minute now.

And in addition to these two items-- there's Barr's recent comment that the recent widespread computer hacks were carried out by the Russians!

(Not by the Chinese...as the Trumpster moronically stated).

Whaddya think...is Trump now going to label Barr "A Socialist"??? That Barr's comments are all "Fake News"? Or even...that Barr is a pawn of the Chinese government?

Barr is trying to rehabilitate his reputation. It is way too late for that.

I think you're right-- on both counts.

Long after Trump's power has faded,  (and when he's sitting lamely in his jail cell)...Barr will probably remain in public view.

Why would someone who is leaving office in two days appoint anyone to anything ?

Why would someone who is leaving office in two days appoint anyone to anything ?

Well, by the same token, why would anyone who's leaving office in a few weeks issue lots of pardons...to convicted felons?

And why would that same person spend so much time and effort attempting to fuck up progress in essential areas (such as efforts against the increasing spread of Covid-19.

Or stopping vital communication between the incoming President and the Pentagon?)

Or...for that matter, why would Trump even consider vetoing the crucial upcoming defense bill?

Actually, its probably because he knows they've honed their criminal skills-- and wants then around to assist in any additional illegal activity he wants to engage in.

(But he'd better get it all in soon, as it will be a lot harder to facilitate once he in his prison cell).

What would be the point of pardoning someone who didn't commit a crime?

That would be STUPID.

BTW, Trump has used his clemency powers FAR less than his predecessors.

I know your news outlets didn't inform you of that.

There is no reason to seize the voting machines, it's just the latest in a long line of bullshit for trump. He lost, he knows he lost, he is just doing all he can to destroy democracy.
