GOP blocks House Democrats’ attempt to pass $2,000 stimulus checks
House Republicans on Thursday blocked a Democratic attempt to pass $2,000 direct payments to Americans..

Trying to cap the plan’s cost, most of Trump’s Republican Party sought $600 in direct payments rather than the $1,200 passed in the CARES Act in March.

House Republicans on Thursday blocked a Democratic attempt to pass $2,000 direct payments to Americans, as the fate of the massive coronavirus relief package passed by Congress earlier in the week hangs in the balance

Trying to cap the plan’s cost, most of Trump’s Republican Party sought $600 in direct payments rather than the $1,200 passed in the CARES Act in March.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement after her party’s measure failed that she would hold a full recorded vote on the proposal for $2,000 payments on Monday. If Trump vetoes the legislation, Congress may have enough support to override his action.

Well not only was Pelosi a prime mover in getting the amount raised to $1200 in the CARES Act but in fact she was instrumental in getting the CARES Act passed in the first place!

Cut the damn pork! What is so fucking hard for Pelosi and the moronic Democrats to understand?  The idiotic press in the seed didn't understand that either.

Amending their pork laden bill to bump the amount per person to $2000 is a non starter; and will be vetoed by Trump the second it hits his desk- or he will do nothing and use a pocket veto; leaving Biden on the hook to accept a bill that will further explode the national debt.

Anyone think that the Republican Senators will override a Trump veto.

Seems Pelosi and Democrats think their pork is more important than US Citizens.

WTF, I was sure that the bill passed the House and Senate with an overwhelming majority. You do know that the Republicans could have blocked the bill since they have the majority in the Senate which voted for the bill 92-8. I don't believe that there are 92 Democrats in the Senate. Oh hell, the House voted 359 - 53 in favor of the bill. Are there 359 Democrat's in the House?

But it's all Pelosi and the Dems fault, LOL.  None are so blind as those that choose not to see.

But you keep believing the Grifter in Chief.

WTF you really think the Republican Senate is going to pass a bill after it  is vetoed by Trump?

Since this bill is originating in the House it is up to the fucking Democrats to cut the pork! Since their moronic amendment only tacks on the $2000 per person payment and leaves the pork- the Senate does not have to pass it- as it is not what they, or Trump, agreed to.

Even if the Senators do pass it, Trump can either veto the bill or sit on it- a pocket veto- forcing China Joe to make the decision. I am sure he will love the debt being stuck on his watch.

So yes, it is all fucking Pelosi, the House Democrats, and their toadies in the medias fault for once again being fucking deaf, dumb, and blind. They care more about their fucking pork than US citizens. Otherwise they would put together a simple damn clean bill.

But you keep believing the wicked bitch of the west, who is holding the US citizens hostage.

So all the so-called pork is what the republicans agreed to and Mnuchin sold to them with no objection from Trump. Now all of a sudden Trump wants $2,000 for the people...LOL a person has to be dumber than a rock to think that Trump gives a shit about the people.

Trump has put the dumb fuck republicans between a rock and a hard place. Seeing him attack McConnel, Kemp, Thune and now SCOTUS is classic.

And you keep believing that Bunker Boy is interested in the welfare of the US citizens, it's priceless.

Republicans can't really block anything in the House. They just didn't go along with Unanimous Consent, so a vote will be required. Pelosi should not waste time and get on with the vote.

Nothing can happen until they have a vote in the House. If the Senate wants to block it, then we can get mad when that happens.
