It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the porn sites are at it again. According to The Sun, adult entertainment sites are once again pilfering sex scenes from a steamy prestige drama—this time, Netflix's Bridgerton. And the show's cast is far from pleased. A source told the tabloid that Phoebe Dynevor, who plays the show's romantic lead Daphne Bridgerton, is devastated.

"Raunchy set-pieces have contributed to the buzz but it is a prestige drama based on best-selling novels," the source told The Sun. "To peddle scenes as pure smut is beyond the pale.

Dynevor and her co-star Rege-Jean Page "signed on for the role of a lifetime and did not consent to being exploited in this way," the source added.

Bridgerton , a Regency-era romantic drama produced by Shonda Rhimes, takes its inspiration from Julia Quinn's massively popular series of novels. The show revels in the drama of courting rituals, society gossip, and, yes, includes some exceedingly sexy sex scenes. But given the care that went into every aspect of the production, it's understandable that its cast would feel distraught to learn that their bare butts have, for some, become the stars of the show.

But this is not a new problem. Plenty of movies and prestige dramas, including Game of Thrones and most recently Normal People , have faced the same dilemma. (At one point, Pornhub even went so far as to release statistics about Game of Thrones' performance on its site.) Celebrity sex scenes remain popular on adult sites, and a quick search on Pornhub can return results from productions including Euphoria , Insecure , Escape at Dannemora, and more.

Last spring, as Normal People sex scenes spread across the internet, producerEd Guiney lamented, "We're hugely disappointed that excerpts from the series of Normal People have been used in this way. It's both a violation of copyright and more importantly, it's deeply disrespectful to the actors involved and to the wider creative team."

It appears the Bridgerton team is following suit. "Netflix have been working tirelessly to hunt down pirates and eliminate misuse of their intellectual property," The Sun 's source said. "Anyone thinking about trying this will have the full force of the globe's biggest streaming service against them."

I have to laugh at this sort of hypocrisy.  You make a show with  "exceedingly sexy sex scenes" they are going to turn up elsewhere in cyberspace. You can't make it all ok by saying it is a "prestige show".

If the actors and actresses and producer and director made something that seems at home on a porn site, it is on them.  I think they would have been better off just not saying anything instead of complaining.

Believe it or not JR, I actually agree with you here.

While I don't take any issues with porn or sex scenes in a movie / show, for the actors to complain because people are getting off by watching their sex scenes is asinine. I understand that legally, whoever stole the clips and posted them are, in fact, in violation of many laws and should be prosecuted as such, that doesn't stop another idiot from doing the same.

What happened to cheesy porn that spoofed movies just enough for the viewer to know what they were based on without crossing the line of copyright infringement? jrSmiley_91_smiley_image.gif

We're probably not too far away from explicit , porn level sex scenes in mainstream movies on Netflix or Amazon or HBO. I dont think the networks would balk, but some actors and actresses might.

A few decades back, most people thought we would never hear the word "fuck" on television. "Fuck" was reserved for movies. R rated movies.   Now the word is used on all sorts of streaming tv shows and we are very close to the day it will be acceptable on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX too.

When CNN played the capitol riot video yesterday they did not bleep out the word "fuck" which could be heard many times in the 10 minute clip.

On FX, which is regular cable TV allows cuss words after 9pm. Watching Deadpool and Deadpool 2 is a perfect example... if it's played before 9pm, the words "fuck" and "shit" are silenced, but after 9pm, you hear it all. I think that the sex scenes and cuss words being allowed on cable TV started with FX with the show Nip/Tuck, but it used to be 10pm as the cutoff.

I don't know... I've never had a problem with nudity; perhaps it was the way I was raised. When I was in Europe, the commercials had nudity; I found that interesting to say the least, because I wasn't used to it. But we're all born nude and if we're lucky, we die that way too. jrSmiley_91_smiley_image.gif

I have heard the word prick on regular tv. I cant quite remember which show but I think it was Law and Order SUV.

I am not a prude at all but these things are a slippery slope. One day we will see f**king on network tv (if it sells !)

They practically do that on soap operas now.

Agreed, and I'm not sure that it's something that society needs.

Phoebe Dynevor is a hottie too. I can see why her scenes would end up on other sites.

The producers are just trying to build their audience. Nothing like a good scandle to have people tune in and see what the scuttlebutt is about.

I showed my naked ass on a tv show. Got paid a good chuck of change and I think my ass looks great.

Wait, you mean that I put it out there myself and now people can see it and share it online?

You mean I consented and did a graphic sex scene and people are going to view it?

I am horrified I tell ya. They took my butt out of context.

...

Get over yourselves you entitled assholes.
