Gee, when Biden said "Libya" he meant Libya ...
World powers have met in Germany to seek lasting peace in Libya by ensuring the conflict-racked North African country stays firmly on the path towards general elections on December 24.
Representatives of Libya’s interim government on Wednesday joined US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as well as the foreign ministers of France and Egypt at the United Nations-sponsored talks in Berlin.
The effort to end a decade-long spiral of violence in Libya is the second round in Berlin, after the first attended by the presidents of Turkey, Russia and France in January 2020.
“There is hope, and a feeling, that Blinken’s participation and his strong words of commitment are a sign of his willingness to help,” said Al Jazeera’s Adam Raney reporting from Berlin, adding that the previous administration under then-President Donald Trump had shown little interest concerning Libya.
The UN estimates 20,000 foreign fighters and mercenaries are still in Libya – a presence seen as a threat to the UN-recognised transition leading to the elections.
Libya rhymes with Syria, maybe the slip of the tongue was a slip of hearing?
The mercenaries don't want the conflict to end. Perpetual war is their bread and butter
