Texas Democrats can't do anything right
Texas Democrats fled the state to try and block a GOP voting bill, thinking it would make them progressive heroes. Instead, their stunt has been a disaster at every turn.

Five Texas Democrats have now tested positive for COVID-19. All five claim to be vaccinated, but it isn't a good look for a party that continues to claim that it is treating the pandemic seriously, especially when some members are now calling for a nationwide mask mandate as a result of their own irresponsible behavior.

Thank you for all the comments concerning masking.

I'll forward your request to Congress and the White House to ask that we reinstitute a national masking requirement.

I appreciate and welcome the vocal support for such a mandate.

So, to recap: Texas Democrats lost yet another election in 2020. They fled their own state to prevent the majority from passing a benign piece of legislation. They chartered a flight that they took, maskless, to Washington, D.C., to demand the federal government overrule the state they were elected to legislate in. Then five of them tested positive for the virus and also exposed the vice president.

And, of course, this entire effort has failed in one of its two stated goals. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin met with them and once again reiterated his support for the Senate filibuster. Their other goal, blocking Texas's voting bill, will inevitably fail. It's not a great return on investment for the estimated $1.5 million it will cost them (along with the over $1 million it will cost Texas taxpayers).

Even establishment media can't really spin this, though not for lack of trying. The Associated Presstried to paint this vacation as a hardship, but Texas Democrats tweeting about their laundry and eating salads does little for the "woe is us" narrative. Neither does the hypocrisy of urging the Senate to eliminate the minority party's ability to obstruct the majority when that is precisely what they are doing back home.

It has been embarrassment after embarrassment for a state party that just fell on its face in the 2020 elections. Texas Democrats have remained an afterthought for years, only saved from complete embarrassment by some close statewide losses during the Democratic wave in 2018. With the way this stunt has gone so far, it's not hard to see why they have a penchant for losing.

The only way this ends is with a whimpering defeat, as the refugees will have to return to Texas at some point and watch the bill pass, over their objections. And then the 2022 midterm elections will come along in an environment that already would naturally favor the GOP. As bad as things have gone for Texas Democrats during their gambit so far, it seems that their plight will only get worse.

Why, thank you, Texas Democratic "legislators", for ensuring yet another GOP win in 2022.

Democrats in Texas need to get much, much smarter if they hope to win any statewide offices here.

Ironic that Texas Democrats are clamoring for the Senate to remove the filibuster while employing the same tactics the filibuster does.

Like I said, Texas Democrats need to wise up if they hope to win statewide elections here.

I see you have bought into Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, progressive liberals, and the media's lies.

No obstruction to voting here.

Just made up crap.

Last time a Democrat won a statewide election in Texas: 1994.

That is the longest such losing streak for Democrats in any state.

I find it extremely hard to believe that five of this small group, all who have allegedly been vaccinated, got COVID.

They should be required to produce their vaccination records .... in the interest of following the science that is.

With published vaccination efficacy over 95% for some vaccines, it's basically a statistical impossibility.

I'd do the math but it would be lost on many of the workers drones here ....

There's a report out of England where they are saying that 40% of all current hospitalizations for Covid are with fully vaccinated people. So that 95% efficacy seems to be an issue.

Could be but right now the Pfizer vaccine is published at around 95%.

If they are truly vaccinated they shouldn't have any issue sharing their vaccination information as like i said .... in the interest of following the science.

They also have Sen Lindsey Graham thinking of doing the same thing to the US Senate. No quorum and democrats can't do anything!

This is the second time the children were derelict in their duties.  The first time, they should have been treated as the children they apparently are.  The second time should have been completely different.  Their "running away" should have been understood as quitting their job.  Their offices should have been cleared up and everything put in storage (at their expenses not the taxpayer) and the process to have an election to fill the vacated seats should have been started.

In most industries walking out and being derelict of your duties are grounds to be fired.  These positions should be no different.

And now about 10% of these adult children tested positive for Covid?  There's a lot of speculation of how that happened (no masks worn on their plane, etc.)  This fits the "superspreader" situation that democrats in D.C. rant and rave about, but their suddenly silent (not that its any surprise).
