This tree is popularly known as the "Fox News" Christmas tree.
The Fox and Friends hosts were on air this morning bemoaning the liberal caused crime wave.

A man was arrested after setting fire to a Christmas tree outside Midtown's News Corporation building early Wednesday, police and sources said.
The holiday display was set ablaze shortly after midnight and the flames quickly spread up the tree in Fox Square outside the Sixth Avenue building that houses Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.

Photos from the scene show the fire charred most of the Christmas tree that was decked out in red, white and blue ornaments and topped with a red star.
The flames also damaged three other nearby trees decorated with Christmas lights.
Police closed off the surrounding streets as FDNY firefighters extinguished the blaze.

From the pictures you can see that even their tree is fake.
So you are suggesting that the tree may have committed suicide? That is actually a less crazy suggestion than a lot coming from FoxNews.
Personally I think it was Jewish Space Lasers starting the fire.

Twitter reactions are pouring in after an artificial Christmas tree was lit on fire in Manhattan overnight. The incident occurred at the Fox News building and a 49-year-old man is in custody for allegedly setting the flames.
"A police department spokesperson confirmed a 49-year-old man was in custody but investigators couldn't confirm an incendiary device was used. A light was removed from the suspect, though it's also unclear whether it was used," NBC New York reported .
The Christmas tree had been lit in the traditional sense on Sunday and was "filled with 10,000 glass ornaments, 100,000 lights and it took over 21 hours to put together," according to NBC New York.
