Youre a mean one, Mr. Grinch. A Denver man said he found bags of rocks instead of a console and controller in the Sony PlayStation 4 bundle he purchased at the Stapleton, Colorado, Walmart. Igor Baksht said he bought the gaming console for his 13-year-old neice Dec. 19 even though a store employee told him it had been returned by another customer and the box felt unusually heavy, KMGH-TV, Denver, reported.
Baksht said when he got home he opened the box to check the contents before wrapping it for Christmas and found it had been stuffed with rocks. When he attempted to return it to a 24-hour Walmart, he was told he'd have to go back to the Stapleton store but a store employee initially refused to make good on the purchase.
"He said they cannot do anything about it because they don't have proof, how it came in, nothing," Baksht told KMGH.
"I never stole anything in my life. The most criminal thing that I've did, I got a driving ticket."
Baksht contacted Walmarts corporate offices where company officials agreed to issue a refund. He was contacted on the afternoon of Christmas Eve by the manager of the Stapleton Walmart and he got his money back.
This isnt the first time the chain of superstores has been scammed. During the 2012 holiday season, a buyer purchased a Nintendo 3DS from Walmart and found another box of rocks. Earlier this year, Walmart was the victim of PlayStation 4 scam involving a number of users who took advantage of the companys price matching policy. Shoppers printed out fraudulent listings of the device on Amazon for $90 and brought it to local stores where Walmart employees matched the $90 price tag .
