Joe Biden's Approval Rating Fails to Rise Among Independents After State of the Union—Poll
An IBD/TIPP poll in March found that just 27 percent of independents approve of Biden's job as president—the same figure as in February.

The State of the Union address failed to boost President Joe Biden's popularity among independents, but he did get a bounce from Democrats, a survey has found.

An IBD/TIPP poll conducted after the speech on March 1 found that, overall, 39 percent of respondents approve of the job he is doing as president, compared to 47 percent who disapprove.

This is a slight improvement from the 38 percent approval in February's IBD/TIPP poll—the lowest figure since Biden took office.

However, the March survey of 1,318 adults found that the president's address, which covered inflation and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, did not sway independents. Only 27 percent of independents approve of Biden's performance—the same result as in February.

The figure for independents who disapprove was 53 percent in March, down from 55 percent in February.

Independents also disapprove of Biden's handling of the Ukraine conflict. Just 21 percent of the survey participants said they supported his response to Moscow's invasion, which includes sanctions on Russia. This compared to 47 percent of independents who disapprove.

Overall, 33 percent of respondents to the IBD/TIPP poll approve of Biden's actions on Ukraine, while 43 percent disapprove.

On the topic of inflation—which many Americans now consider the biggest issue in the country, ahead of the coronavirus pandemic—47 percent disapprove of Biden's economic policies.

The same disapproval figure was recorded in February, but the approval figure for Biden's economic stewardship rose slightly to 32 percent in March.

Independents disapprove of how Biden is handling the economy by 53 percent to 23 percent, although these results are better than the 55 percent and 18 percent figures recorded in February.

According to the IBD/TIPP poll for March, 74 percent of Democratic voters approve of the president's performance, with 15 percent expressing disapproval.

This is an improvement of 8 percentage points since February, when 66 percent of Democrats approved of Biden. However, the president's approval also stood at 74 percent among Democratic voters in January.

In the days before the State of the Union, a poll from The Washington Post and ABC News found that just 37 percent of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing, the lowest of his presidency.

According to the FiveThirtyEight poll of polls, Biden's average approval rating stands at 42.6 percent. Although this is an improvement from the low of 40.4 percent at the end of February, it is way down from the low to mid-50s the president was enjoying during his first few months in the White House.

The IBD/TIPP poll is based on online surveys of 1,318 adults from March 2 to 4, with a +/- 2.8 points margin of error.

For those who love polls, here you go!

Looks like the slight rise in Biden's poll numbers are coming from Democrats. Which should be expected.

What some don't realize is that there simply aren't enough Democrats or Republicans to win a national election without independents, who aren't swayed by speeches so easily as Democrats are.

Just road tripped to Tampa area from Michigan.    Really enjoyed the near record high diesel prices along the way ..... thx Joe ..... you’re the best.

You have to be a real dullard to approve of his performance to date.

A complete retard.

Some Democrats are still under the illusion that voters don't vote their wallets.

What a rude awakening come midterms they have coming!
