A man with a gun was arrested outside Rep. Pramila Jayapal's (D-WA) house in Seattle on Saturday, according to police.

A neighbor told authorities she overheard the 48-year-old man saying something along the lines of, "Go back to India, I'm going to kill you," and he was armed with a handgun, according to a police report. Police said officers arrested the man in the street and he was found to have a Glock 22 handgun holstered at his waist, according toAxios.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the suspect's bail was set at $500,000 by a judge, at the office's recommendation, but a protection order, which was also recommended by KCPAO, was not granted.

KCPAO also said there was "probable cause" for a hate crime and a charging decision will be made Wednesday. The Seattle Police Department is still investigating the case, according to KCPAO.

Jayapal's office said the incident occurred while she was at home and thanked law enforcement in a statement.

"Congresswoman Jayapal confirms that incidents occurred at her Seattle home on Saturday night when she was present. The Congresswoman and her family are safe and appreciate the many calls and good wishes she is receiving from constituents. She is very grateful for the swift and professional response from the Seattle Police Department, the US Capitol Police, and the FBI investigators who are working together diligently on the investigation, and ensuring that she and her family stay safe," the statement said.

Jayapal's office also said that because the investigation into the incident was ongoing, there would be no further comment.

What kind of judge would not grant at least a temporary restraining order in this case????

I would ask that, too but unless they’re written on kevlar, they can be pointless.
