The White House has no clue what is happening on the southern border | Washington Examiner

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is either willfully ignorant of what happens every day on the southern border or lying through her teeth.
At Monday's White House press briefing, Peter Doocy asked Jean-Pierre to justify the double standard between President Joe Biden not allowing tennis star Novak Djokovic to enter the country without proof of vaccination while also allowing thousands of illegal immigrants into the country every day without proving they are vaccinated.
Here is the exchange:
Reporter: "Somebody unvaccinated [legally] comes over on a plane, you say that's not okay. Somebody [illegally] walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they're allowed to stay?"
Jean-Pierre: "But that's not how it works."

Doocy: "How is it two different things? Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane, you say that's not OK. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they're allowed to stay. Why?"
Jean-Pierre: "But that's not how it works."
Doocy: "That is what's happening. I know that's not what you guys want to happen, but that is what is happening."
Jean-Pierre: "But it's not like somebody walks over and — ha ha, that's not how…."
Doocy: "That is exactly what is happening. Thousands of people are walking in a day. Some of them turn themselves over. Some of them are caught. Tens of thousands a week are not. That is what is happening."
Now, Doocy is 100% right and Jean-Pierre is 100% wrong. You can just watch one of the numerous videos taken by reporters on the border of migrants literally just walking across the boundary and surrendering to Border Patrol agents. Here is just one:

To paraphrase Doocy, the Biden administration may not want to admit that literally thousands of illegal immigrants are being caught and released into the country without proof of vaccination every day, but that is exactly what is happening.
Later in the press conference, Jean-Pierre tries to invoke Title 42, saying, "Look, we have talked about Title 42. … Title 42 is a CDC imperative. … Title 42 is very much in place. And that is the process. So there is a CDC provision for folks coming through the southern border. It is not just for tennis players. Migrants also have a CDC guidance that we have to follow, which is Title 42. So that is not the case. That is factually wrong."
It's Jean-Pierre who is again 100% wrong here.
Yes, Title 42 does exist, but it is Biden who has full control over how it is implemented, and he is implementing it in a way that allows literally thousands of migrants to walk across the border without any proof of vaccination and then stay in the United States as long as they want.
President Donald Trump implemented Title 42 differently. He used it to deny entry to all migrants, no matter where they came from or how old they were.
On day one of his administration, Biden changed that policy. He stopped applying Title 42 to unaccompanied minors . Biden has since exempted most families from the policy as well. You can see all of this in Border Patrol data on apprehensions at the southern border. In January 2021, Trump's last month in office, 82% of migrants apprehended on the southern border were returned to Mexico through Title 42. In July 2022, the last month we have data, just 37% of migrants apprehended on the southern border were returned to Mexico through Title 42. The rest were processed into the country through Title 8, and almost all of them will be allowed to stay in the U.S. as long as they want without any proof of vaccination.
Those are the numbers. Those are the facts. Jean-Pierre is just factually wrong.

Wow, what a shocking revelation!
I would like to think Joe's handlers have clued him in by now, but can see I was wrong to think that.
Poor press secretary is thrown out as a sacrificial lamb and is made to look like a fool. Poor thing, ill-prepared for anything except softballs tossed by 'friendly' press members.
But it's not like somebody walks over and — ha ha, that's not how….
How can anyone be this bad at their job?
Seems like lots of folks living up north have been insulated against the effects of illegal immigration and can't recognize a 'crisis' until it lands (or drives) onto their doorstep.
