25 Days of Christmas Music-- by Marsha Meyer

2859_discussions.jpg I meant to do this yesterday, but forgot! Every day, I will try to post a Christmas song, of some sort!

For years, Christmas Music has made me cry... I guess it was all the feelings of my family being gone that got to me, or those awful Christmases that came back with a rush, or something... But this year, I find that I can bear it again, to a point. So, I went to Amazon and downloaded about 50 songs. Well, surely someone else would like to hear the golden oldies-- which are my specialty!

For the first time in years, I am able to shop without scuttling out of stores, covering my ears. I've made a few CDs of the music to give to friends, because a lot of these are hard to find. Some of them took a lot to remember, as well-- I've spent countless hours pouring over lists of Christmas favorites to find some song where I only vaguely remembered the verse.

So, without further ado, I would like to share some of my finds with you! None of these are action videos, just pictures with music. I didn't want to publish from YouTube because some of us can't get to YouTube, but I have no choice! Please forgive me. Buzz, if you want a DVD of these, or a CD of these, I'll try to make one for you.

In fact, if anyone wants a copy of these songs on CD, I'll make one for you. Just email me your name, address, and I'll get it to you, and promptly forget the address. Forgetting things is what I'm best at. I have 12 CD mailers in stock... Smile.gif

Our first little ditty is sung by Bing Crosby, who wrote it with the Andrews Sisters in 1950. I remember my funny little Grandma dancing the hula to it, in about 1958... She had the hand movements down pat! Anyway, the song was originally produced by Decca Records, and released as a 78 rpm, and a 45 rpm. I definitely remember it on a 78! At any rate, long about in the 1950s, everything Hawaiian was wonderful, just before they became a state in 1959. We loved it, and always had pineapple in a salad as a treat for our Christmas feast. Fresh pineapple. Someone had to go to Louisville to get it.

I still can't spell the name correctly, BUT, here it is: Mele Kalikimaka!

I will try to publish the next one in a few-- it takes a while to upload to YouTube!

Hope you enjoy this!

Love,

Marsha

I know that a single picture is boring, but I don't have time to really put the effort into this to make it more interesting. It's all about the music anyway!

Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!

I think so, too!

This year, for the first time in many years, I'm actually enjoying the music! So, since I haven't listened to it in about 30 years, it's quite refreshing! Grin.gif

I only do fun songs-- none of that weepy crap, because I cry. I'm at the point in my life where I don't want to cry all the time, I want to have some fun! Grin.gif

I hereby would like to nominate you Dowser for NT Christmas 'elf' (ambassador). Of course I think as the season progresses you will have a great deal of help.

Happy holidays to all, regardless of how you celebrate it. And you Dowser are simply wonderful. (((((Dowser)))).

Was in the woods the other day, saw some interesting geology, and was reminded of the 'field trips' you used to take us on. Made me smile.

Sorry for off topic comment.

Dear Don, you know I don't care about off-topic, especially when you're being so sweet and kind!

Happy Holidays to you, too, dear friend! We have been friends for a long time, here in cyber space, and I surely wish I could see you in real life! I think you're wonderful, too!

I think the elf job should go to someone who isn't so shaky about Christmas... This year, we're going to have a peaceful time! MUCH love to you! 6.gif
