Georgia Governor Brian Kemp criticized the Biden administration for honoring an activist on Transgender Day of Remembrance who was killed after allegedly firing at law enforcement during a protest.
The activist's death led to violent demonstrations, and despite controversy, the White House still honored the activist.
"Honoring someone who died shooting at and critically wounding a State Trooper is disgraceful and unbecoming of the Office of President," Kemp said.
"Joe Biden's support for Defund the Police activists makes law enforcement less safe and puts more American lives in danger."
"In Georgia, we will always back the blue, and violent offenders who seek the destruction of our communities will feel the full weight of the law," he continued.
On Jan. 18, Georgia State Patrol responded to the construction site to remove demonstrators against what critics call "Cop City."
Manuel "Tortuguita" Teran shot a trooper in the abdomen before law enforcement officials returned fire and killed Teran.
The White House statement also mentioned the deaths of transgender individuals due to violence, with the press secretary noting that the victims were largely people of color.
The White House still honored the activist during "Transgender Day of Remembrance."
"This year, at least 46 transgender individuals in this country—and hundreds more around the world—were killed in horrifying acts of violence," the White House statement read.
"Each of these lives was precious. Each of them deserved freedom, justice, and joy. Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we mourn those we lost in the deadliest year on record for transgender Americans, as well as the countless other transgender people—disproportionately Black and brown transgender women and girls—who face brutal violence, discrimination, and harassment."
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also honored the 26 killed.
"Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we grieve the 26 transgender Americans who were killed this year. Year after year, we see that these victims are disproportionately Black women and women of color," she said.
No Trump or fascist nonsense, keep your memes on your own seeds
A real slap in the face to law enforcement everywhere.
Way to set your priorities, Mr. President.
Shameful.
Yeah, right up until he shot a cop.
Why would Biden 'honor' a transgender cop-killer--or ANY cop-killer?
Actions like these tend to make thinking people doubt the "sincerity" of Democrats when they talk about how they "support" the rule of law and those charged with enforcing the laws.
I wonder if Karine managed to squeeze out a few tears for the cameras.
"Year after year, we see that these victims are disproportionately Black women and women of color," she said."
Statistics show that the majority of black women and women of color or anyone of color are killed by other "of color".
Wonder why Karine didn't mention that? s/
Because Karine is claiming that men are women.
Maybe she's just a big fan of that old 80's Wendy's commercial that stated 'parts is parts'...
LOL!
Way to keep stoking division joe
Oh, no division!
Joe has restored our "standing" in the world.
Just nobody told the world that yet.
Joe has united us!
Maybe the perceived division is simply all over what Melania wore!
gasp!
World leaders call him "bend over joe".
Some of them treat Joe like Corn Pop!
Democrats seem to have a way of supporting cop killers.
Joe is pandering to the wrong folks in this case.
Looks awful for the WH to "honor" a cop killer-- or any killer.
Can't imagine the outcry if a different President did something so loathsome.
Does Karine Jean-Pierre know that those were not women but men pretending to be women. Oh wait! She is a lesbian isn't she? And she is a Democrat. She most likely doesn't even know what the difference between a man and a woman is.
