After months of Republican investigations, Mike Johnson told Fox he believed GOP conference has enough votes to launch

The US House speaker Mike Johnson signaled on Saturday that Republicans are nearing holding a formal vote to launch an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden.

"I think it's something we have to do at this juncture," Johnson said during a Saturday appearance on Fox and Friends Weekend.

Republicans have spent months investigating Biden and his son Hunter's business dealings, hoping to find improprieties they could use as the basis for impeachment. The full House has not yet voted to formally authorize an impeachment inquiry, as some Republicans have publicly expressed doubts about whether there is enough evidence to justify such action.

The White House has rebuffed GOP efforts to force it to turn over information in part by citing a 2020 opinion from the justice department's office of legal counsel citing the need for a full House vote before a House committee could force the production of documents or interviews.

"We conclude that the House must expressly authorize a committee to conduct an impeachment investigation and to use compulsory process in that investigation before the committee may compel the production of documents or testimony in support of the House's 'sole Power of Impeachment'," the memo says.

Johnson, who appeared with the GOP conference chair, Elise Stefanik, expressed confidence that there were enough votes to authorize an inquiry and said it was a "necessary step" to obtain information from the White House.

"Elise and I both served on the impeachment defense team of Donald Trump twice when the Democrats used it for brazen, partisan political purposes. We decried that use of it. This is very different. Remember, we are the rule-of-law team. We have to do it very methodically," he said.

The Republican investigation thus far has resulted in several misleading claims, but nothing substantial. At a September hearing, several of the expert witnesses called by Republicans said they did not believe there was enough evidence to justify impeachment.

Hunter Biden has also offered to publicly testify before the committees investigating his business dealings.

Let's be real here. The House Reps under McCarthy already declared an Impeachment Inquiry without a vote. Of course it did nothing under their own rules. Now they want to hold a floor vote to expand their "investigative powers". Again that doesn't mean a whole lot other than the circus continues.

If they really had all the evidence they claim they have there would be no reason to continue investigating. Instead of voting on impeachment inquiry they would be voting on impeachment.

I'll be busy today so be nice to each other...

Biden isn't under impeachment currently.

Are you expecting him to be?

Don't forget that Trump was impeached twice with no credible evidence of wrongdoing.

Here is the most recent articles of impeachment:

Its sole article was the charge of " inciting violence against the government of the United States".

You see no credible evidence that Trump incited his supporters (for months prior to the election) and encouraged them to march to the Capitol where violence ensued?

You should then seriously review this article:

So there was a trial and your comment is a lie. So what evidence did the house miss? they were able to present this evidence right? they just didn't hold the trial the way you wanted, that doesn't mean there wasn't a trial.

Was there a trial or not?

Simple question based SOLELY on your post:

Don't forget the Republican controlled Senate refused to conduct a trial.

Maybe write a letter to Pelosi and tell her that her chosen folks didn't prosecute the case.

Trumps impeachment was political show to prevent him getting re-elected, i'm sure if the republicans do it in the house it will be for the same reason, to tarnish Bidens election chances. it is the game Pelosi started, are you surprised the republicans still want to play now they are at bat?

I think every stupid thing imaginable has been said about Trump at one time or another, but maybe someone will come up with something new and surprise us all, it's just that I won't be holding my breath waiting for that to happen as I am not saying this as a challenge.

The worst thing the asshole did was convince millions of gullible people that the election had been stolen from him.

LONG BEFORE election day Trump told his supporters that the only way he could lose was if he was cheated , priming the pump for the post election day lies. How fricking dense does someone have to be to not understand that Trump planned all the "stolen election" crap PRIOR to anyone voting?

Trump conducted a ludicrous "throw the kitchen sink at it" strategy to convince his MAGA lemmings. In one place on one day he would say drop off boxes were stuffed, another time he would say thousands or millions of Trump votes were found in an abandoned USPS truck in a ditch in the middle of nowhere. Another time he would say that election personnel were hiding fake ballots under tables during the counting. Another time he would say 20,000 dead people voted. He made these charges almost from sea to shining sea.  It is the most ridiculous thing we have ever seen, and the MAGA ate it up.

People should be ashamed of themselves for trying to minimize the damage all this shit has done to America.

Is some voting more serious than other voting?

What qualifies as really serious voting nowadays?
