Biden Admin Furious GOP Wants to Put America First, Secure Border: 'History Will Remember Them Harshly'

Republicans are in a standoff with the Biden administration, refusing to fund Ukraine unless the money is tied to securing the U.S. southern border.

On Wednesday evening, Senate Republicans blocked a vote to advance a $110 billion foreign aid package that includes support for Ukraine's war against Russia and security assistance for Israel.

The 49-51 vote fell well short of the 60 votes needed as Republicans leveraged the aid bill to try to force changes to immigration and border security policies, according to CNN.

And the White House isn't happy.

"Make no mistake: Today's vote is going to be long remembered. And history is going to judge harshly those who turned their back on freedom's cause," President Joe Biden said in a speech on Wednesday.

"We can't let Putin win. I'll say it again: We can't let Putin win," he said, referring to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed the president, repeating his words almost verbatim at her daily news briefing on Thursday.

"It's stunning. It's stunning that we've gotten to this point … and that Republicans in Congress are willing to give Putin a gift, the greatest gift that Putin could hope for. That's what we're seeing," Jean-Pierre said.

"And so they are playing chicken with our national security — that's what we're seeing here. And history will remember them harshly," she said.

Jean Pierre's statement is so absurd it's laughable.

Nothing says "playing chicken with our national security" more than 12,000 illegal immigrants crossing our border in one day. That happened on Wednesday, according to Fox News, which said it was the highest number on record.

In the last fiscal year, there were 169 encounters with people on the FBI terror watch lists between ports of entry along the southern border, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

This number not only shattered the previous annual record of 98 such individuals set in fiscal 2022 but also exceeded the combined terror watchlist border encounters for the prior six fiscal years.

Forget playing chicken — we're being dragged halfway under the semi-truck.

History will surely be the judge of these decisions and justly condemn us if a preventable attack reveals the true cost of the risks we've taken.

Aren't they all?

Yet another thing for Democrats to be proud of Joe Biden for.

Has Joe Biden ever had a clue about what is going on at the border?

Wake up, America.

I really don't see Biden ever doing anything effective at the border.

His track record sucks.

The only two ways anything will get done are if migrants are continued to be sent to blue sanctuaries or if Republicans force Biden into it by delaying any of his pet projects until he capitulates.

Personally, I would like to see Biden freaking admit that there actually IS a crisis, and then admit that his policies have contributed greatly to the problems there.

The Republicans sending migrants to sanctuary cities is one of the best political moves the GOP has made in years.  Give Democrats a small taste of the results of their policies and watch them squirm. They need to keep it up until Biden can't stand the flack from his own party members.

Enough Democrats complaining (like in Chicago and New York) and Biden might realize his election chances are slipping away.

"Let Putin whoop up on Ukraine while we hold up funding over poison pill unrelated border bullshit"

I do not understand what you are talking about?  The Ukrainian summer counteroffensive was/is a bust, Russia was too dug in for the counteroffensive to succeed as planned and winter is coming on fast - Ukraine and Russia are pretty much at a stale mate ..

I am also curious about a couple of things.. is Putin dieing?  Has not Russia been crushed by the sanctions from the United States .. was not Russia running out of equipment and forced to use WWII era weapons [tanks for sure] .. How can there be all this smack talked about the weakness of Russia, yet Russia is whooping Ukraine while the 'we' holds up the money ...?  Some individuals need to make up their minds on what propaganda should be spread by the media..

I certainly do not want to hand Putin a win, yet I am not sure how much of a win it would be, he has had Crimea since 2014 .. the Donbas region has been fighting against Ukraine since 2014.  That region has been heavily influenced by Russia for a long time.

P.s... I recently read that Ukraine cannot win the war now, but by 2025 winning could be possible...Fighter jets may be the answer, but so far Ukraine has lost a lot of equipment with only small gains made in the past year. How many billions can be sent to a nation that actually needs help on the ground, manpower and strategic assistance - throwing money at this problem will not make Ukraine suddenly have a chance to force Russia out.

Money will however allow Zelensky to pay expenses .. meanwhile the US is borrowing money for Zelensky to pay said expenses. it tis a money pit...

That shows how badly the Biden gang wants to keep that border open. It was Biden that attached border security to his foreign aid bill. The problem was that the money that Biden wants for the border doesn't really go to securing the border. It goes to processing migrants and making them comfortable.
