Kristi Noem has been confirmed in a bipartisan vote!

This is breaking news as Republicans are working through the weekend to get as many Trump nominees confirmed as possible while democrats try to resist & obstruct.

Trump says something about his daughter and you attribute that to pedophilia, but you see no problem with Biden's own daughter saying in her diary that Biden took showers with her.

Not only is that pedophilia, that is child abuse, close to incest and just damn creepy.

It's all "fake news" and innuendo

Of course I know that and I know more about it too. What are you not telling us that YOU should know. . .how about Ashley saying that her diary written statement is being "taken out of proportion"?

Come clean. Tell the whole story which you should KNOW BY NOW. She only cleared the air properly and should be RESPECTED since she was there and not any of the mockers and degraders who chide her on the internet!

I will give you TIME to look it up or just go back and 'finish' reading that portion which got glossed over.

That's what makes a partial narrative -'fake news' -inattentiveness to telling the whole truth in its proper context. And rushing to SMEAR and spread innuendo 'ceaselessly' on the internet.

BTW, somebody should ask the republican/conservative DICK that stole a woman's diary to eff-off with his trifling butt. It's disgusting to first steal then 'out' a woman's memories of the past for political bs.

Of course, it is 'impossible' to shame the SHAMELESS!

LEFT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias.  They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appealing to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes.  These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation.

  • Overall, we rate Heavy, slightly Left-Center biased based on story selection that sometimes favors the left, and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record

2. Harris, a Trump Fan , Didn’t Do Anything Wrong, Her Lawyer Say

Harris is “full cooperating with the investigation,” according to what her lawyer,  Guy Fronstin , told The Times. She has “no culpability,” her lawyer told the Times. Heavy has written to Fronstin to see if he wanted to comment.

Harris’s social media accounts show she’s a fan of Trump , and she learned Ashley Biden had left some belongings behind, The Times reported, adding that a short time later “the diary had been acquired from Ms. Harris and a friend by Project Veritas .” That’s all under investigation.

The Times reported that Project Veritas bought the diary from people identified as “A.H.” and “R.K.,” and it says that the group thought they had obtained the diary legally. According to the Times, AH is Aimee Harris and RK is Robert Kurlander, a “self-described venture capitalist” and friend of Harris.

Ashley Biden's diary leaked to conservative website

Just before the November 2020 presidential election, entries from the diary were published by the National File, a right-wing news website who claimed they got the diary from a Project Veritas “whistleblower," the  Palm Beach Post , part of the USA TODAY Network reported.

Founded by James O’Keefe, Project Veritas is based in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Its founder has railed against the FBI since his home and homes belonging to other journalists who worked for him were raided by agents in 2021 during the investigation into the diary.

The news site denied wrongdoing in a statement saying news gathering "was ethical and legal and protected by the First Amendment."

Donald Trump told radio host Howard Stern in 2004 that it was okay for the shock jock to refer to the Manhattan billionaire’s daughter Ivanka Trump as “a piece of ass.” The exchange was uncovered by CNN , which published that clip and others on Saturday from Stern’s radio show. The publication of the exchange comes one day after The Washington Post published a recording of Trump making crude, sexual remarks about women, including a statement that he “did try and fuck” a married woman and a declaration that he often got away with groping women because “when you’re a star they let you do it.” In the 2005 clip published by the Post, Trump told Access Hollywood host Billy Bush he would “grab [women] by the pussy” and added that “you can do anything” to them.

Mayorkas had a decade of service in government, all related to immigration issues and homeland security, before Biden made him Secretary of Homeland Security,  Noem has none.

A member of the  Democratic Party , Mayorkas previously served as the director of  United States Citizenship and Immigration Services  from 2009 to 2013, and the 6th  deputy secretary of homeland security  from 2013 to 2016.

Noem has over a decade of government service in the U.S. House of Representatives and as Governor of South Dakota

She understands the innerworkings of government at the state and federal level.

So why is she not qualified for the job?

Here is an excerpt from Northeastern University about Homeland Security Position requirements

3 Essential Homeland Security Job Requirements

According to Terpinas, there are three key traits that homeland security agencies look for when they are hiring: A sense of duty, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

1. A Sense of Duty

Many students earn degrees with concentrations such as criminal justice, counterterrorism, international relations, or cybersecurity, but that alone isn’t reason enough for them to pursue a career in homeland security.

“Most people in this field have a desire to do something bigger than themselves,” Terpinas says. “That’s what draws them in. It’s not just the degree.” Individuals who want to have a firsthand role in keeping their community and country safe will stand out during the application and interview process, he noted.

2. Leadership

One area of emphasis for Terpinas and Northeastern’s security and intelligence program is developing leadership skills. Public agencies, as well as private employers, are increasingly looking for individuals who can take on a leadership role in any given situation, whether it’s data analysis or incident response.

The important part of assuming that role is knowing  when  to lead, Terpinas says. “You need to be able to think on your feet. Some days, you need to be a leader. Some days, you need to be a team player. Some days, you need to be an independent worker. That’s a character trait that not everyone can develop.”

3. Problem-Solving

At the times when homeland security professionals need to be independent workers, problem-solving and critical thinking skills are an important part of the job, Terpinas says. “We’re trying to develop leaders in the security field who can search out and find answers to difficult problems themselves—who can work on teams but also work without supervision.”

Terpinas gives the example of a driver who keeps getting a flat tire. The driver could continue to change the tire—or they could try to figure out what’s causing the flat tire in the first place so it stops happening altogether.

Minorities of a certain age have experience with nepotistic 'tendencies' in tribal governance of the United States. For example: Ben Carson was the former Trump administration secretary (2020) and now another black "leader" is called upon to take up the same 'mantle' in a second Trump administration. Hmmmm. jrSmiley_87_smiley_image.gif

What are blacks "good for" in the Trump cabinet?  Housing/projects.

BTW, Carson penned in Project 2025 (yes, that one) that the agency might better serve the public if closed/shuttered and the entirety of its work be 'returned' to the states that effed it up - requiring a federal agency oversight and servicing from the beginning. Some states are not worth a sh-t to America!

More like they actually care about qualifications. Rubio was confirmed 99-0 in short order. See how easy it can be? He was qualified, whether anyone likes him personally, politically, or not.

Many Senate Republicans appear to be scared of threats from Trump's henchmen about being primaried by Trump's idiotic and anti-American base if they dare to challenge any of Dear Leader's nominations, regardless of how unqualified. Those threats interfere with the independence of the Senate as part of a separate branch of government, and are an attempt to nullify the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution—yet another act of tyranny from the Trump camp.

We'd be seeing different results if the confirmation votes were done by secret ballot, especially for the absolute bottom of the barrel ones like Pete Hegseth.

like they actually care about qualifications

No, it's to give their partisans a talking point.  It's politics. Its always politics.   This is a party who filibustered a fully qualified judicial nominee  because he was a hispanic and Democrats were afraid Republicans would get credit for nominating a hispanic justice to the Supreme Court. It's always politics.

How can you say that given Rubio as an example?

That's my point. Democrats pick someone to vote unanimously for. If they vote against everyone it loses cache.  So they choose Rubio to be the winner of their support knowing they would look ridiculous if tried to stop him. It then gives them cover to vote as a block against the  targets they decided to attack.

No matter who Trump nominated Democrats would have made a huge production over some of them. They need to for fundraising and for their base to see them as "fighting."

Or Rubio is actually qualified, which he is.

I disagree about why there is push back. What is your explanation for McConnell not voting for Pete Hegseth, other than he has nothing to lose since he is not running again.

Or Rubio is actually qualified, which he is.

If Trump nominated a Marco Rubio for every cabinet seat Democrats would choose some to demonize and unanimously oppose. That's how politics work. It would be impossible for Democrats to not fight over some nominees. Their base would explode if they didn't.

hat is your explanation for McConnell not voting for Pete Hegseth

Spite.  McConnell's been the defense industry's guy for decades. Trump didn't pay attention to him when selecting a nominee.    He couldn't deliver a good ole boy who plays the game the defense industry's way. It's not business as usual where the DOD fails audits, loses money and no one seems to notice, or care.

That is a supposition. You don't know that and there is no proof of that, especially given that he has voted for other appointees.

But it is a fair bet. He voted for the other appointees who were not in the running for the DOD spot. That has for a rather long time been filled by someone who was from the military/industrial complex and Hegseth is definitely not one of those.

Trump selected a good ole boy of his own making (and private discussion). Watch and learn. Keep eyes on what Secretary Hegseth does. It will be a lesson in what Trump wants from a military of his own making.

Larger point: This country, it's services, it's population has been free to operate above and beyond the president; but Trump has every intention (as least until people get up off their butts and pushback HARD ENOUGH for the 'fear of God' is heard and felt') of personalizing this country. . .similarly to Putin, Xi, Erdogan, Orban, Kim Jung Un and so forth and so on.

'Woke' up America! We're walking through 'the steps' already!

I have to disagree with you Robert.

Just look at the previous people who have held that position, to see how deficient he is for this role, in this time, with trouble on so many fronts.

Sorry, Perrie, but I have to disagree with you.

Two of the three SecDefs that Clinton appointed had zero military experience, were nothing more than Congressmen and held high positions in defense contracting companies.

I think Hegseth will focus on readiness, get rid of DEI and make the military the once prod institution it was when I was in and before, and not on giving defense contracts to their friends that still worked in the defense companies they used to.

Agreed and one wonders if Hegseths opposition really believes that won’t happen or if this is just nothing more than Trump triggered petty politics.

I’m betting it’s the latter …..

Me too. Petty democratic politics instructs them to resist all of Trump’s picks. We were told that by Schumer after the election.

ai think the only reason they couldn’t give Rubio a hard time is because they all know him well from the Senate and they know he is above approach.
The rest they don’t care because they are not one of them.

William Cohen

A moderate Republican, he served on both the Senate Armed Services and Governmental Affairs Committees from 1979 to 1997 and was a member of the Senate Committee on Intelligence, 1983-91 and 1995-97. He participated in the drafting of several important laws related to defense matters, including the Competition in Contracting Act (1984), the GI Bill (1984), the Goldwater-Nichols Defense Reorganization Act (1986), the Intelligence Oversight Reform Act (1991), and the Federal Acquisition Reform Act (1996). During his years in Congress, he found time to write or co-author eight books–three non-fiction works, three novels, and two books of poetry.

-

William Perry

From 1977 to 1981 Perry served as under secretary of defense for research and engineering, where he had responsibility for weapon systems procurement and research and development. Among other achievements, he was instrumental in the development of stealth aircraft technology.

-

Leslie Aspen

. By 1985, when he became chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services, he was recognized as a leading defense authority. His chairmanship caused controversy among some House Democrats, particularly because he supported the Reagan administration's policies on the MX missile and aid to the Nicaraguan Contras. Although temporarily removed from his committee chair by his Democratic colleagues in 1987, Aspin weathered the crisis and resumed the post. He again broke with many Democrats in January 1991 when he issued a paper supporting the Bush administration's intention to use military force to drive the Iraqis from Kuwait. The accuracy of his prediction that the United States could win a quick military victory with light casualties added to his reputation as a military expert.

while democrats try to resist & obstruct.

Friendly reminder.... that is their job.

Just like Republicans were sent to DC in 2010 to resist and obstruct Obama, or in 1994 to resist and obstruct Clinton.

That's how the system works.
