Indiana state police say Matthew Huttle, who was given six months in prison, was shot after allegedly resisting arrest

An Indiana man who was pardoned by Donald Trump for taking part in the January 6 insurrection was killed by police during a traffic stop on Sunday.

Matthew Huttle, 42, was shot by a sheriff's deputy after allegedly resisting arrest and getting into an altercation with an officer, local news outlets in Indiana report, based on the Indiana state police's account of the incident.

Huttle was one of the more than 1,500 people pardoned by Trump on the first day of his second term in office for their roles in the 2021 Capitol riot.

Huttle traveled to Washington with his uncle, Dale, and both men were charged for participating in the insurrection. He entered the US Capitol for about 10 minutes and agreed to a plea deal that gave him six months in prison. His uncle, Dale Huttle, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge for assaulting an officer after he jabbed the police officer with a long flagpole.

The county sheriff in Jasper county, Indiana, said he requested the state police investigate the shooting. The officer was placed on administrative leave per department policy for police shootings, the sheriff said.

"Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased as any loss of life is traumatic to those that were close to Mr Huttle," Sheriff Patrick Williamson said in a statement.

Another January 6 participant who was pardoned last week was rearrested on federal gun charges. Daniel Ball of Florida was detained for an illegal firearm possession charge, a case that predated but emerged from his involvement in the 2021 Capitol insurrection.

Police officers who were at the Capitol that day and political violence experts have warned that the pardons could lead to further acts of violence.

After Trump praised them for their actions is it any wonder that they continued those actions after being pardoned?  Huttle wasn't just there on 1/6, he was one of the ones specifically cited for assaulting a police officer.

They had no reason to believe that he wouldn't do it again since he told them how much he loved them.

Specifically during a 2020 debate with Biden he said, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by."

Actually, no. According to the article, that was his uncle.

No indication he was armed in the article, wonder why the officer felt the need to shoot them? Why was he being placed under arrest?  did they know this was a Jan 6 rioter and execute them?

According to the Fox News article, he was armed. No other information however to indicate that Huttle pulled the gun, only that he was resisting arrest.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Matthew Huttle was pulled over by Jasper County sheriff's deputy for a traffic stop, according to the   Indiana State Police   Criminal Investigations Division Lowell Post.

During the stop, the officer was attempting to arrest Huttle when he began to resist, police said.

An altercation then took place between Huttle and the officer, resulting in the officer shooting him. Huttle was in possession of a firearm at the time of the traffic stop, police said.

Unlike many here, I'm not going to speculate what the circumstances were around the stop and the shooting. I'll wait until we get more information as the investigation continues. All we know for certain is this guy wasn't very bright to begin with.

It really doesn't take long before the conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork. Just to clarify, if you believe this guy was killed because of ANYTHING to do with January 6th, you're a fucking moron. If you believe this guy was even pulled over for ANYTHING to do with January 6th, you're a fucking moron. Sometimes I wish the deep state did exist and was actually competent enough to prevent the overreaches of the reich-wing party in our country. However, I know that the 'deep state' or any of the other fantasy government conspiracy theories, whether to do with Hillary Clinton assassinations, Jewish space lasers, pizza parlor child sex rings or mind controlling fluoride in the water or vaccines, is total and utter bullshit.

hey still claim that Ashley Babbitt was murdered.

What percentage of democrats believe Michael Brown was murdered?  Its hard for anyone who paid attention during that era to ever take a progressive seriously on this topic. On the night the Grand Jury declined to press charges, there were people on this site inciting people to go out and shoot random police officers in protest.

I can also say, with 100% certainty, that if a white cop, especially one with that officer's service record, had shot an unarmed  black female protester in the exact same circumstances during a riot, Democrats would have demonized the officer and demanded that he be charged with murder.
