French Politician Who Brought Up The Statue Of Liberty Responds to Trump Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt
This America, faithful to the wonderful words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, your America, is worth so much more than the betrayal of Ukraine and Europe, xenophobia, or obscurantism. We all in Europe love this nation to which we know we owe so much. It will rise again. You will rise again. We are counting on you.

(5) Raphael Glucksmann on X: "Dear Americans, Since the White House press secretary is attacking me today, I wanted to tell you this ⤵️" / X

1. Our two people are intimately linked by History, the blood we shed and the passion for freedom we share, a passion symbolized by this Statue that was offered to the United States by France to honor your glorious Revolution.
Raphael Glucksmann

·

2. As the press secretary for this shameful Administration said: without your nation, France would have "spoken German." In my case, it goes further: I would simply not be here if hundreds of thousands of young Americans had not landed on our beaches in Normandy.

3. Our gratitude to these heroes and their sacrifices is therefore eternal.

4. But the America of these heroes fought against tyrants, it did not flatter them. It was the enemy of fascism, not the friend of Putin. It helped the resistance and didn't attack Zelensky.

5. It celebrated science and didn't fire researchers for using banned words. It welcomed the persecuted and didn't target them.

It was far, so far from what your current President does, says, and embodies.

6. This America, faithful to the wonderful words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, your America, is worth so much more than the betrayal of Ukraine and Europe, xenophobia, or obscurantism.

7. We all in Europe love this nation to which we know we owe so much. It will rise again. You will rise again. We are counting on you.

8. And it is precisely because I am petrified by Trumps betrayal that I said yesterday in a rally that we could symbolically take back the Statue of Liberty if your government despised everything it symbolizes in your eyes, ours, and those of the world.

It was a wake up call.

9. No one, of course, will come and steal the Statue of Liberty.

The statue is yours. But what it embodies belongs to everyone.

And if the free world no longer interests your government, then we will take up the torch, here in Europe. Raphael Glucksmann

10. Until we meet again in the fight for freedom and dignity, we will be the continuators of our shared history and the protectors of our treasure: more than a statue of copper and steel, the freedom it symbolizes.

That cemetery is immaculate and the crosses (and stars of david) are polished regularly BECAUSE France appreciates the sacrifice of Americans to liberate them.  Karoline Leavitt being a 27 year old ignoramus probably couldnt find Normandy on a map.

She is indeed blond, prepared, articulate, informed, and far from being dumb.

Here predecessor was never prepared, spoke gibberish, never had a clue, and dumber than box of rocks

Several times, I have visited Colleville-sur-Mer - the American cemetery above Omaha Beach. It is an emotional experience each time. The grounds are immaculate, emerald green lawns tended perfectly. The gravestones are brilliant white, rows upon rows of crosses, quite a few stars of David, and a few crescents.

It is hard to breathe.

These men died to prevent the spread of fascism.

America is betraying them.

My son-in-law went to Normandy a couple of years ago. His unit was to be part of the memorial they do on June 6 every year. He thought the cemetery was very moving, also

But the America of these heroes fought against tyrants, it did not flatter them.

Indeed. I'm proud to be an American because of the sacrifices my grandparents and parents and others of their generations made to support western democracy over the last century. I'm proud of their tireless work create a nation for the people, by the people, that supports defending other western democracies and our interests from the enemy foreign governments like Russia, North Korea, China and Iran. Sadly, we now have a President who praises those vile evil foreign enemies that are set on destroying western democracy. The fact that we have supposed Americans defending and excusing Putin and authoritarians like him around the globe is truly sickening, and to watch an American President flatter such despicable despots is the height of shame for patriotic Americans.

I do get it. Many conservative Americans feel they're all out of shame because they used it all up being "ashamed" of all the Americans they were taught to hate and despise. All the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and minority Americans with different cultures and Gods other Americans pray to, or those who pray to no Gods. The rightwing conservative Christian believes that America is a Christian nation and was built by and for white conservative Christians and thus feel it was hijacked by the "Godless" minorities. Which is why now, when western democracy needs defending the most, the rightwing conservative Christians have shifted to defending the enemies of western democracy like Russia instead. They clearly feel western democracy has abandoned their rightwing ideology just like the Democratic party abandoned the confederate loving white supremacists in the former confederate Southern States back when Democrats authored, passed and signed into law the 1964 civil rights act and 1965 voting rights act.

Do your research. The Dems were against both tooth and nail. Thanks to the Republicans it passed.

just for grins and giggles , i decided to go look up what the scrape value was  of the statue in question .

being what can be seen is copper , its value for that alone is just over $200.000, the steel framework they didn't set a price  on , and the original torch which is covered in gold leaf (The original is not on the statue BTW) was not mentioned either .

Is the value of the Statue of Liberty in it's scrap metal? You say "just for giggles"... but you share the number...

Thank you  Trout Giggles, it was not my intention to be disrespectful, but different people will use different valuation aspects on different things .

Using historical or philosophical aspects it would be considered priceless.

How much can we get quarrying Mount Rushmore? How about strip mining Yellowstone? Leasing Grand Canyon as a landfill?

I didn't think you were being disrespectful either, and it's not Lady Liberty that i have issue with, it is the idiots who think an inscription from a poem is US policy on immigration.

That would depend on supply and demand and what someone thinks its worth in reality if there was a desire to do so.

currently i doubt there is a desire or demand to do either  in any of those places .
