Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) refused to apologize on Tuesday after she called wheelchair-bound Texas Governor Greg Abbott "Governor Hot Wheels" during a speech for the Human Rights Campaign.
"Y'all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there!" said Crockett during her speech, which received heavy backlash. "And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess."
In a statement addressing the controversy, Crockett claimed her remark had nothing to do with Abbott's disability and was instead a reference to "the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants" into Democratic-led communities:
I wasn't thinking about the governor's condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.
Literally, the next line I said was that he was a "Hot A** Mess," referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I'm even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged.
Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries.
She concluded, "Finally, this is yet another distraction. Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives."
Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) introduced a resolution to censure Crockett on Tuesday, calling her comments "discriminatory in nature" and "the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments."

She should pull a Trump and say she's never heard of Abbott and he is a lightweight anyway . Throw in a "I didnt say it" for good measure.
absolutely no surprise the people who claim to be the most offended by trump will justify any behavior by a democrat by citing trump as their moral authority.
so she's just like Trump?
So because Crockett made like comment's it's all good.
The hypocrisy is glaring.
Governor Hot Wheels is just funny. It’s so much funnier than the typical Trump nickname. Lying Ted, Little Marco, Pocahontas - unimaginative.
Democrats need to stop apologizing for things like this. The MAGAs dont deserve an apology for anything.
You're absolutely right. Do any of them apologize for saying terrible things about people? No, they don't. I don't believe that "I apologize" exists in their language
Just curious...
Would you think "Congresswoman horse hair" is funny?
No difference, really.
I’ve never even heard of that one and don’t even know who you are referring to. Probably because it’s not funny enough to have legs … or wheels.
Yea....
OK

Republicans are demanding Crockett apologize to Abbott. She should say I will, when Trump apologizes to the 1000 people he has personally insulted over the past 10 years. Trump supporters like to say they acknowledge Trump is not a good person, but they will never go so far as to hold him accountable. Just saying he is Trump being Trump is a load of garbage.
If Crockett wants to fight fire with fire that is her choice.
By the way, there are a LOT of people in Texas who think Abbott is a clown, so maybe she should have called him a bozo.
Typical Democrat/Leftists hypocrisy at it's finest.
Democrats/leftists are always guilty of doing what they accuse others of.
The left is all good with her not apologizing...then they are good with Trump not apologizing.
Maybe her explanation is truthful, maybe it isn't. The only thing that really matters is if Abbot was insulted by her comment. If he is then she should apologize to him, it doesn't need to be done in the press. It is and should be between him and her. Personally if I were Abbot I would ask her to supply racing stripes for his wheel chair.
