Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriffs Department found a large turtle blocking traffic.

Fingers are being pointed at a wayward 100-pound tortoise for bringing traffic to a crawl at a Sarasota, Fla., intersection.

Deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriffs Department found the big turtle blocking the road at Webber Street and Honore Avenue Thursday.

"We were able to get the tortoise out of the road. It was quite heavy. It took a couple of people, but we put it in our truck and tried to make attempts to find its owners," SCSO captain Ron Locke told MyFoxTampa.com.

He said deputies found the owners through Facebook.

"This tortoise belongs to us. His name is Dozer," Ryan Adams said in comments posted on the SCSO Facebook page. They were reunited Friday.

Adams said Dozer escaped from his backyard home through a new hole he created in the fence.

If you go to the Big Island, (Hawaii) the sea turtles are everywhere. You can swim with them and they will come right up to the edge of the sand.

Beautiful sight, and they are protected.

What part of the Big Island BF? We used to spend a month there every year. Usually around Kona.

A couple of years we did night dives with the manta rays'...Very cool.

We used to dive at Keauhou Bay a lot. Also Captain Cook inlet was a great diving spot.

On the Hilo side, there are some really great waterfalls, with good sized pools at the bottom that we used to swim in.

Beautiful Island.

The black sands beaches are cool, at times they will be a bright green, amazing sight.

He was out for an adventure. Glad a car didn't hit him and they found his home. Really good article, Tzia.

Not in Hawaii, but I did in West Australia. A place called Monkey Mia. The wild dolphins will come into a couple of feet of water with their babies, and will allow you to pet them, and will play games with humans.

I was just curious as to it's age, I know they live to be quite old. I wouldn't try to take that turtle either with a Rottweilernearby!

I must admit, that would be a great topic of conversation! (even thought I don't think I could ever eat one)
