Fox News Host Sues Hasbro Toy Company Because New Hamster Doll Bears Too Much Resemblance To Her

A side-by-side comparison of the two Faulkners

-

In addition to its prominent and unauthorized use of Faulkners name, elements of the Harris Faulkner Hamster Doll also bear a physical resemblance to Faulkners traditional professional appearance, in particular tone of its complexion, the shape of its eyes, and the design of its eye makeup, court documents claim. Of course, the dolls eyes are entirely differently-shaped, the makeup is different, the complexion is not remotely the same there is nothing similar when a visual comparison is made between the doll and the Fox News robot. They dont even have the same tail.

Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner is furious about an adorable toy hamster that bears the same name as her . The 59 Faulkner is concernedthat the plastic hamster bearing her name somehow represents a theft of her intellectual property. With nothing more to go on than the shared name, the Fox host has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that, because toy company Hasbro did not ask permission to use her name, she deserves to be paid a rather ridiculous $5 million.

Faulkner claims she suffered emotional damage after the company released the toy hamster that, coincidentally, bears the same name as her. The hamster, a part of the popular Littlest Pet Shop toy line , is tan-and-white with big, blue eyes and a butterfly atop her head, but the Fox journalist contends that the toy bears enough of a similarity thatsomething, something, dollar signs.

Hasbros manufacture, sale, and distribution of the Harris Faulkner Hamster Doll is extremely concerning and distressing to Faulkner, the Fox anchor says in her suit. Further, Hasbros portrayal of Faulkner as a rodent is demeaning and insulting. Of course, even if the intent was to mock her, the portrayal of quite literally anyone on Fox News as a rodent is not exactly a stretch.

Faulknerviews the identical naming of the toy as a blow to her ego:

Harris Faulkner, the uniquely named, acclaimed veteran journalist and author, has worked for decades to establish and maintain her personal brand and laudable professional reputation.Hasbros manufacture, sale, and distribution of the Harris Faulkner Hamster Doll is extremely concerning and distressing to Faulkner and has caused substantial commercial and emotional damage to [her].

The Fox host says she put Hasbro, which has since removed the toy from its website and deprived children of the joy it could have otherwise brought them, on notice that her name and likeness were being infringed-upon, but complains that the toy manufacturer continued to sell the hamster doll for months after her ridiculous complaints were lodged. Furthermore, she is irritated that the toy like any Fox host is a known choking hazard:

Faulkner is extremely distressed that her name has been wrongly associated with a plastic toy that is a known choking hazard that risks harming small children.

Hasbro has not said much about the lawsuit, but spoke out to correct Faulkner sfalse statements regarding the safety of the toy:

While we generally do not comment on litigation matters, it is critically important to correct a false statement made by Ms. Harris in the complaint regarding the safety of the product. The Littlest Pet Shop product identified, and all products in the Littlest Pet Shop line, meet and exceed all safety standards.

The product contains the standard CHOKING HAZARD-Small Parts warning, but we can not find any instances of children actually choking on the Harris Faulkner doll.

In addition to $5 million in damages, Faulkner insists that the court bar Hasbro from further violations and misappropriations of Faulkners name, likeness, identity, or persona. She also wants every cent that has been made off of the toy.

Faulkner is taking a pounding on her Facebook page from those who realize that this lawsuit has no merit.

If I remember correctly Fox has complained in the past about frivolous lawsuits being the cause of high premiums...

This sure seems to fit the bill.
