Toddler Dies In Hot Car
Harris was supposed to bring his son to daycare in the morning before he arrived for work at 9 a.m. ET, reported NBC affiliate WXIA .
Around 4 p.m., Harris left his job and was driving home in his Hyundai Tucson when he realized the infant was still strapped in the car seat, police said.
Witnesses saw him pull over in a shopping center in Atlanta.
He hopped out of the drivers seat, opened the back door and laid [the infant] on the concrete and tried to resuscitate him, one witness told WXIA.
Witnesses also told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the man appeared distraught and was screaming.
What have I done? What have I done? they heard him scream. Ive killed our child.
Harris reportedly had to be handcuffed when officers arrived. Medical personnel attempted CPR, but were unable to revive the child.
Officials didnt immediately identify the victim. An autopsy will be conducted to determine his exact cause of death, said Cobb County Sgt. Dana Pierce.
This happens too often. How tragic!! RIP little baby.
At least he showed frantic remorse, which is something. He didn't purposely do it, but he was an idiot, all the same. How sad for the child!!! How sad for his wife!!
How very true. Unfortunately this is not the first incident I have read, and it still makes me scratch my head.
