Gee, whatever will Democrats talk about if that ever comes true?

They don't want to or can't talk about immigration or the economy or the stock market.

They certainly can't talk about law and order, or world peace.

They can't point to stock market performance.

President Biden's signature proposal to stimulate our economy, Biden's Build Back Better Plan, has never passed. Unlike Trump, who was given six trillion dollars of stimulus slush funding, Congress has given Biden bupkiss nothing zip to help our economy. Just be happy Biden has cut our deficit from over three trillion under Trump to near nothing...

Congress has given Biden bupkiss nothing zip to help our economy

The American Rescue Plan was passed by the House 2/27/21, the Senate on 3/6/21 and signed into law by President Biden 3/11/21.

As far as the deficit...

Just be happy Biden has cut our deficit from over three trillion under Trump to near nothing...

You really should do your homework before you post shit like this.  Even CNN doesn't agree that Biden actually cut the deficit.

Biden's figures for both the 2021 fiscal year (which ran through last September) and the ongoing 2022 fiscal year (which runs through the coming September) are accurate, though the $1.5 trillion figure for 2022 is a projection. But some experts on fiscal policy say Biden is distorting reality when he claims that he is personally responsible for the deficit going down.
The deficit has been smaller under the Biden administration than it was at the end of President Donald Trump's tenure. But the deficit has been bigger under the Biden administration than the nonpartisan federal Congressional Budget Office had projected it would be if the Biden-era federal government stuck with the laws that were in effect when Trump left office in early 2021.
"The actions of the administration and Congress have undoubtedly resulted in higher deficits, not smaller ones," Dan White, senior director at Moody's Analytics -- an economic research firm whose analysis Biden has repeatedly touted  in his speeches -- said in an email. "It is encouraging that the administration has proposed some initiatives to bring down the deficit, but so far none of those initiatives has been seriously considered."

CBO said greater-than-expected revenue growth in 2021 was due to “strong growth in economic activity, following the substantial disruption in 2020 caused by the pandemic.” CBO credited, in part, “legislation enacted in response to the pandemic.”

“As a share of GDP, which is really the way to look at this, deficits would decline from 12.4 of GDP in 2021 to 5.8 percent this year to 4.5 percent next year,” Gleckman said. “But most of that action is due to two factors: The booming economy that is likely to increase revenues substantially and a sharp decline in pandemic-related spending/tax cuts.

“I suppose Biden gets some credit for this since he and the [Democrats in Congress] designed the American Rescue Plan to include temporary spending,” Gleckman said. “But it is not as if this year’s budget includes major spending reductions. In fact, many of his proposals would increase spending.”

So while the deficit is projected to be smaller this year it really has nothing to do with Biden and his budgets.  It's more due to greater than expected tax revenue combined with a reduction in pandemic related spending.

He got the needle into McVey's arm. He's got it!

Which was a slam dunk .. McVeigh murdered men, women and children with a bomb at a federal building - Daffy Duck prob could have pulled off the death penalty in that case - not taking anything away from Garland (I supported him as a justice for the Supreme Court) ... but that as an example for a vote of confidence is lacking.

The attack on the Capitol was beyond belief .. I sat there gobsmacked trying to figure out what the fuck was actually happening .. first it was called a riot, then an insurrection .. now it is a  coup d'etat for fucks sake - this is the United States of America, not the Ukraine where insurrectionist actually overthrew the government on the closing weekend of the 2014 Olympics - Oooo but wait, even though the government was overthrown that was not a coop...?  I get so confused!

Trump stirred up a hornets nest of his own making and unleashed it on the Capitol building, should be criminal, but is it?    ... he is guilty of being an ignorant asshole no doubt, was impeached by the House of Representatives for said unleashing .. after that, I am not sure what can be done - this is unbroached territory in the US.

Shout out to Liz Cheney .. she deserves a raise and promotion for her steadfast due diligence .. sadly, very sadly, her career may be over and dumb fuck may get votes in 2024 ... the best thing for the US is if he does not run - this nation is too divided as it is ..

On that note, I close with one last thought, the Republic of the United States of America is not in jeopardy .. the Constitution of the United States of America is not in jeopardy .. there was an attack on our peaceful transfer of power - the government was not in threat of collapse!

Peace

As long as a hearing will only show one side of an event and only has one single focus it is a sham.  The only thing it will do is give red meat to people who have already made up their minds.

There are things to be learned from Jan 6th, this commission is not the way to learn it.

Why don't you pay attention to that in your analyses. The truth is being laid out before you, and you still won't agree to it. Why? Because you are loyal to Donald. Or worse, you think so lowly of democrats and liberals that Donald gets to keep his 'pedestal.'

You are aware that Nancy hand picked which Republicans would be on the committee and didn't allow the ones put forward by the Republican leadership aren't you? Why don't you pay attention to that in your analysis? That makes the committee a sham.

So I tell you I don't want Donald to run and that translates to I am loyal to him and I want him to keep his pedestal. Yet you seem to expect me to take you seriously.

If you don't want people to vote for Donald I suggest you find a moderate to nominate. And I mean a moderate, not some far left liberal pretending to be a moderate in order to get elected.

10.1.10  CB  replied to  Right Down the Center @10.1.9    2 years ago

You don't know what the heck you're trying to be condescending about! Nancy did not 'hand-pick' republicans-she invited the two republicans and they did the accepting AFTER the stunt of McCarthy trying to install Trump loyalists (aka: "ready rabblerousers") who would distort, destabilize, openly convey committee actions and documents back to Donald (you know-"loyalty"), and be all-around brow-beating to the Trump former loyalists who are tearing him a new 'one' in sworn testimony.

Take off the blinders: See!

Don't pretend you are not aware of the outrageous politics that is ripping the republican party asunder! If you don't know better, then you should. Particularly before engaging others (like me) in the 'deep-end' of the political pool.

You go find a moderate if you don't want people to vote for Trump; but, oh no, you can't because up to now you have been loyal to Donald Trump and what will Donald say once he finds out your 'disloyal' tendencies are stoked?

Finally, according to you, you need a new replacement candidate for your party from the breeding ground of 'bums' and 'chumps' left after all the regular republicans have departed.

I don't think they are capable of seeing the big picture.  The Democrats and the left have hyper-focused on this one person that they have lost all sense of what they should be doing like taking care of the problems they have caused.

It's the same thing we've seen since 2016 when this shit show started.

They've been claiming that for over 5 years now.  And just like every other time, this will end the same way - No charges and the left crying even more.

yep.  I doubt that this will bring any charges against Trump and almost definitely no convictions.  The best I think can be hoped for is that this further tarnishes the name of Trump that he decides by himself not to run in 24.

I don't think it will tarnish Trump's name.  If anything it will be used as a reference of somebody who stood against the swap creatures commonly referred to as Democrats (and the left) and beat them at their own game.

yes, it could be used as the "rally cry" around the entire campaign.  Considering how abysmal the past 18 months have been it could be a very successful strategy in the Republican party.  Not so sure it would be that successful among Independents but time will tell.  Part of that would also play as to what the next 24 months bring.  If the Democrats can turn things around and prevent a recession, bring inflation under control without a huge cost to the middle & lower class, they could blunt the strategy.  But if they cannot do that then where would Independents turn...   Oh what interesting times we live in...   (damn, I need a drink after saying that)

Don't be so crooked. Besides Mr. Luttig (maybe you did not watch yesterday's session?) clearly was speaking for himself.

So conservative Luttig has no validity with you. Tell me, who does have validity with you, besides Donald Trump? Why do you support wrong, Jeremy? And this is not a difference of opinion. You simply are wrong to support someone who wants to take this country over from the citizens here.

I'll tell you flat out I don't watch garbage like this on TV.  I have far more important things to do like spend time with my family.

And you just don't quite get it.  How many times have you all announced "this is the smoking gun to bring Trump down!!!" or "this is the final nail in his coffin to bring him down" in the past 4 years?  40 times?  50?  Every time that announcement is made - if fails.  There is nothing there.  It's redundant, it's fictional, it's just fucking pathetic.  The Democrats and the alphabet agencies have been "investigating" this one person for years.  At the end of EVERY investigation (assuming they reach an end and are not just shut down), nothing comes of them.  No evidence, no charges which means no trial, no conviction.  Then you all come here on NT and continue with your incessant crying and come up with a new conspiracy theory (that will inevitably fail just like all the others).

Mr. Luttig  clearly was speaking for himself. And obviously since you did not watch the presentation on Thursday you have no basis for knowing at-known understanding what was delivered. The commission is political in character and that does not mean it is not factual . It does mean that its results could/will either keep guilty Donald Trump and others out of the political sphere farther by extreme prejudice against misfits and misbehavior, or going farther, the justice department will use transcripts to farther investigate, charge, successfully try and jail criminal elements found.

I agree with you that so far congress has not been sufficient to the task of running the government, and there are many varied reasons, most controversial, such as republicans sitting on their votes in order to thwart the system ('own' the liberals who technically have Donald by this 'balls sac') through political sabotage.

But what does that say about your willful ignorance to overlook the republican party's apathy towards justice, simply to let a 'clear and present danger' exist in the midst of our country? You, are participating in what is making this country sick. It's selfish and wrong!

I get it. You want to continue in your role as #1, first citizen status, in this country. You're 'fighting' for your 'survival' as the dominant class. But, do you realize that this attitude you share with Donald is the same attitude that history is recording daily as what is diseased about our democracy? Do you?

So you are willful in your ignorance? You don't want to test your ability to be biased against liberals? That's unfortunate and telling. You are the way you are politically, because you insist on being so. It must being doing a lot of nice things for you, eh?

congress has not been sufficient to the task of running the government, and there are many varied reasons

And most are caused by the Democrats.

republican party's apathy towards justice

You mean like the FBI altering documents in order to get FISA warrants?  Or partisan committes like the Jan 6th committee?

simply to let a 'clear and present danger' exist in the midst of our country?

would that be like bringing hundreds of unvetted people from Afghanistan to the US?  Or letting unvetted illegals run free in the country?

You're 'fighting' for your 'survival' as the dominant class.

So that's what I did with 26 years in the military.  Fight to keep myself the "dominant class"?

But, do you realize that this attitude you share with Donald is the same attitude that history is recording daily as what is diseased about our democracy?

Do you mean calling out the hypocrisy?  Or holding those in charge responsible for what's happening in this country (i.e. shitty economy, unsecure borders, money being spent on other countries and not our own country)?

So you are willful in your ignorance?

There's a difference between watching a partisan scripted shit show and willfully ignoring facts.  You don't even realize you aren't getting the whole situation. Only what the talking heads are telling you.  But then again, the left hasn't been very good looking something up.

Maybe not (I don't know your motivations for military service, nor would I ever deny it or diminish it. Respect!

But what you are doing NOW with monstrous Donald J. Trump, who to onlookers appears to be a pimp turning tricks with your 'beloved' democracy as he woos her to be his whore for the dominant class, in a word: Yes.

BTW, giving control of this great nation over to men or women 'tapping' the mindset of Donald J. Trump would be to surrender to an authoritarian's dream or nightmare depending on one's perspective.

And why would any republican worth his or her salt do that? Only one reason comes to mind. Some of you rather sadly think you own the whole country of 350M people lock stock and barrel.

I can tell you this: I will never respect Donald J. Trump (again).

Now that is just ad-hominem nonsense. What are your sources? And don't say your head, because we all know an individual can not be the source of local, state, world, and international news. The cost of travel alone is prohibited. Then locating and documents statements as 'reports' would be an impossible time-consuming ordeal. Consequently, you are forced to get your information from 'worldly' sources just like the rest of us. So cut the 'high and mighty' bull patty.

The democratic party does not owe some republicans and conservatives an opportunity to put on a poorly-ran 'escapade.' Sorry, it pisses some conservatives off so much that they can't participate in a genuine effort to get facts without alternative nonsense cluttering up the conclusions.

Whatever the political problems are with this country, they are made worse by authoritarian dreamers who want to thrust it back to what it was before, which was never good for the whole country.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing proceedings?

It's a Dog and Pony show, the only question to be asked?

Is the Dog fucking the Pony or the Pony fucking the Dog?

Probably the clearest example of political hatchetry we have ever seen in the USA... This surpasses Obama using the IRS to target christian religious/ republican groups for "special" treatment...

But then 100's of people were abused and died in the "Summer of Love" campaign, and that was nothing but a political ideal....

If the current crop of Democrats ever get 100% control of this government, the USA will no longer be free... Constitution be damned...

That is why the founders forever preserved the right of the citizen to own weapons against any government attempt to take them away...
