" April Fool's day or " All Fool,s day " by Lucien Alexandre Marion

For about half a Millennium in France, this tradition goes, since King Charles IX. On the 9 of August 1564, the King of France brought the new year calendar from starting the 1 st of January: ( France Edit of Roussillon 9 August 1564 ).

Before, the year calendar was starting the 25 th of March and till the 1 st ofApril, the customs were that the French People were giving to each other gifts to celebrate the passage of the New Year. Like I wrote, in 1564, the King enligned the date with other neighboring countries and in 1622 the Pope generalized this decision to all Catholic countries. In Souvenir the French continue to give themselves gifts "for laugh" on the 1st of April. Concerning the "fish" this date of the year was corresponding with the season end of fishing in soft water and some funny people had the idea of throwing fishes in the rivers to tease the fishermen.

That's where it's beleive the origin of "April Fool's fish"

Now for us in North America, it comes from a Medieval Tradition Celebration named "April Fool's day or " All Fool's day. On that day, children practiced innocent jokes as:" Your shoes laces is untied or You have a big spider on your shoulder"....lol

In accordance of some Historians in France, April Fool's day originated from the Edit of Roussillon.

I would like to thankmy friends of Historyfrom France : Les Amis d'Hrotote.net for those infos that I am happy to share with youmy friends the NewsTalkers and to all of goodwill in the World.

Merci /Thank you and a most beautiful day.Smile.gif
