Pandemic Pastimes
During this global pandemic, what have you done to occupy your time?
I can honestly say that my life isn't far different than before people started catching [and many dying from] COVID-19 besides having to wear a mask in the store and not having to commute 60 miles round trip daily. However, the lack of drive time to and from work actually made me more productive in my role. Moreover, I get to spend more time with my family instead of being stressed out because of and dealing with traffic. I don't have to get up at 4:30 am; I can get up at 5:30 - 6:00 am instead.
That little bit of extra time daily allows me to make a sit-down meal more often. We play games as a family. Games we frequently play together are as follows: Monopoly, Clue [The Walking Dead version], Uno Flip, LRC, Cards Against Humanity, Scattegories, Rummikub, Jenga, Indigo, and even though I love to play it and generally no one else wants to play it, Scrabble. My husband says that I have an advantage in Scrabble, because I play word and number games all the time. We have a lot of games.
The other thing I like to do is play Minecraft in creative mode with my kids. My husband isn't interested in it though. When none of us want to be around one another, I watch TV or look for a new movie on the Amazon Firestick or play word or number games on my phone. Sometimes I'll ride my Honda Spree. Sometimes my daughter and I will go for a bike ride. Sometimes I'll take my daughter and her boyfriend to continue their education of driving a car with a manual transmission. We're usually pretty good at finding something to enjoy. And even though it's no different for us from prior to this global pandemic, I realize that it is for most.
So, what have you started, changed, or even maintained status quo since early this year?
**NO POLITICS**
As a little kid might say... "Whatcha doin'"?
I'll check replies tomorrow. Been on the computer too long today.
It's been a long 6-7 months. Many of us have been isolated. I think I found the ultimate diversion. It only became available recently. It is a strategy game that basically is the Civil War. I've plaid it for many hours. I started out by only allotting myself a few hours a day, but once I played it for 10 hours straight. I could it on YouTube - game experts were testing it out before it was released.
Behold:
Warning: It can be addictive.
When it got warmer, we drank beer, listened to music, and danced on the deck. Kids are all grown up so no board games until Christmas
Winter will be the same we did last year
same here. no real changes.
I just took long walks off short piers or jumped off the jetties when we had surf. and still do.
there for a while, having fewer people in the water was kind of nice
It was normal work for a week then a week "working from home" for most of the last 6 months so half the time was normal and the rest was house projects, naps and gaining weight
