Another urban mayor declaring an immigrant emergency.  Apparently immigrants are flooding across the southern border for the bright lights and night life.

And no one saw this coming?

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock on Thursday declared a state of emergency in response to an influx of migrants who have arrived from the southern border in recent months.

Around 900 migrants have arrived in Denver in the past several months - 600 of whom have arrived since Dec. 2, according to the city. Nearly 250 migrants have arrived in Denver since Monday.

"This influx of migrants, the unanticipated nature of their arrival and our current space and staffing challenges have put an immense strain on city resources, to the level where they are on the verge of reaching a breaking point at this time," the mayor said in a statement.

The city says social media played a role in the migrants' arrival, KDVR reported. Some migrants arrived from Venezuela, which has a temporary protection status through March 2023. That allows Venezuelans to work in the U.S. for two years but only applies to people who have arrived since least last spring.

Denver has spent around $800,000 on migrant shelters and that number is expected to increase significantly. An emergency declaration would help the city secure more resources.

The city has opened two emergency shelters and a reception center to accommodate the migrant arrivals. As of Thursday, the first shelter was at capacity, the mayor said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Colorado Gov. Jared Polis' office for comment.

The mayor's declaration comes ahead of next week's end of Title 42, a public health rule enforced since President Trump to limit the spread of disease that allowed the U.S. to expel asylum-seekers on the southern border.

Title 42 has been used more than 2.5 million times to expel migrants since March 2020, although that number includes people who have repeatedly been deported.

Its end comes as surging numbers of people are seeking to enter the country through the southern border. Republican lawmakers have warned that the country is completely unprepared for the surge of people crossing the border that is expected to take place.

Urban blue islands are being inundated by a flood of immigrants.  Not surprisingly there are increased calls for bipartisan reforms.  But that demand for bipartisanship is really about transporting immigrants to rural areas where they can simply be ignored.  Illegal immigrants are supposed to pick vegetables, pack meat, drive trucks, and stay away from the cities.

Yeah, the Dems apparently only think of them as second class non-citizens and cheap labor...don't forget the construction and landscaping jobs.

How many immigrants will we need to clean solar panels?  How many immigrants will we need to grease wind turbines?  And then urban dwellers will complain about the cost of electricity.

If it's Not In My Back Yard then it's not my problem.  And there's no one in rural areas that can declare an emergency.  The easy thing to do is sweep the problem under the rural rug, again.

the county government does it here all the time , be it weather ,traffic accidents , or situational emergencies such as fire bans .

I thought these sanctuary cities wanted illegals to come.  What's the problem?  They can't provide what they promised?

Our dumb asshole of a mayor should have been expecting a few busloads of migrants...after all, Denver is a sanctuary city.

Sunny but only about 32 degrees here today.

It's not like it's a big secret like Biden flying illegals all over the country under the cover of darkness.  Border states have been bussing them in borad daylight and alerting the cities they are on the way.

But it's not like these cities actually intended on keeping their promises.

Only proves the old adage that talk is cheap.  Of course there's another adage -- don't make promises you are unwilling to keep.

It's all about the optics. They never intended on keeping their promises.

Intent is one of those subjective and highly emotional measures.  What seems obvious is there was no planning to keep promises made.

Note the absence of allegations that these immigrants were dumped onto Denver.  Apparently the immigrants were released at the border and made their way to Denver on their own.  Denver was a choice and not an imposition.  The immigrants who illegally entered the country had an intent, too.

Hoist by their own petard.  Liberals have built their own political petard and now that bomb has blown up in their faces.  But the political imperative is to find scapegoats rather than addressing the problem they've created.

Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., said, "This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forth an amnesty bill like this."

It appears the lying POS democrats in Congress won't even consider honoring the promise of the Lion of the Senate

I think the lying POS "Lion of the Senate" was lying himself. There was never an intent to secure the border.

Immigrants that overstayed their visa and DREAMERS are not overwhelming the border patrol and urban resources.  That's not the problem.

A pathway to citizenship won't curb the flood of immigrants illegally entering the country.  Amnesty won't lessen the drain on resources being caused by a flood of immigrants illegally entering the country.  The liberal immigration reforms being proposed won't prevent urban areas declaring immigrant emergencies.

Democrats are blowing woke smoke to avoid addressing the real problem.  We aren't controlling entry into the country and that's what is draining resources and creating urban immigrant emergencies.
