Biden to address nation after Israel trip, says 'I got it done' on aid to Gaza
By: Ben Gittleson (ABC News)
So, what was Biden's trip to Israel about? Biden claims he 'got it done' but doesn't really explain what. Biden's handlers allowing Biden to directly interact with the press is a clear indication that the trip was nothing more than a photo op.
Biden has to make a rare prime-time address to the American public because he wants humanitarian aid for Israel AND Palestinians against the backdrop of a pointless trip to finger wag at Israel.
Yes, the Palestinians and their allies managed the optics so that Biden only finger wagged at Israel. There wasn't any tough talk with 'the other team'. The Palestinians played Biden like a cheap fiddle.
President Joe Biden will address to the nation Thursday to update Americans on the U.S. response to the Hamas attacks, the White House said.
The 8 p.m. ET Oval Office speech comes a day after Biden's high-stakes visit to Israel where he pressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow aid from Egypt into Gaza for Palestinian civilians reeling from Israel airstrikes.
In a rare move, Biden spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One, telling them he had been on the phone with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in "blunt negotiation" and that El-Sisi had agreed to open the closed Rafah crossing gate in southern Gaza to allow up to 20 trucks with aid through.
"I came to get something done -- I got it done," he said.
"They're going to patch the road -- they have to fill in the potholes for the trucks to get through," he said, to repair damage from Israel bombing. "Expect that to take about eight hours tomorrow. So, there may be nothing rolling through … probably until Friday."
He added, "If Hamas confiscates it or doesn't let it get through, it just confiscates it, then it's going to end."
Asked about what he told Israeli officials, Biden said, "I was very blunt about the need to support getting humanitarian aid to Gaza, get it to Gaza and do it quickly."
He added, "I got no pushback, virtually none. ... Let me say it again, I got no pushback."
"Look, Israel has been badly victimized, but you know, the truth is that if they have an opportunity to relieve suffering of people who are, have nowhere to go, they're gonna be, it's what they should do," Biden said. "And if they don't, they'll be held accountable in ways that may be unfair."

Before he left for Israel, questions were raised about whether making the trip was worth the physical and political risk, something Biden brought up himself Wednesday.
"Let me choose my words here. Not many people thought that we could get this done," he said, apparently referring to the delivery of aid to Gaza. "And not many people want to be associated with failure."

"Not many people want to be associated with failure. And there was quite frankly a -- a lengthy, lengthy, hour or more discussion about whether to go, because had we gone and this failed then, you know the United States failed, Biden's presidency failed, et cetera, which would be legitimate criticism."
Saying Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan's King Abdullah were in a "tough spot," Biden continued, "We're putting all of them in a tough situation, if we didn't get this done and so. It had to be in my view, we either, either took all the blame or not to put anyone else on the spot, or get it done. And I thought it was worth taking the chance to get it done."
Biden is going to blame Hamas but not Palestinians. Biden is going to blame Israel. Biden is going to blame Russia. Biden is going to blame Republicans which requires convincing the American people that 8 Republicans are a majority in the House. In fact, Biden is going to present a pity parade to claim he overcame enormous opposition to 'get it done'. But, in Biden's own words, "I got no pushback, virtually none. ... Let me say it again, I got no pushback."
Let's go, Brandon!
Biden was able to put foot in mouth again.....
Wait, Did Biden Make a Joke About the Gaza Hospital Bombing? (townhall.com)
From the article:
“I’m not suggesting that Hamas deliberately did it,” the president said at Ramstein Air Base in Germany en route back to Washington after visiting Israel earlier in the day.
“It’s that old thing: Gotta learn how to shoot straight,” Biden went on.
“It’s not the first time that Hamas has launched something that didn’t function very well.”
"I came to get something done -- I got it done," he said.
A solid bowl movement?
He did make it down the steps of the plane without falling. That's a first.
And back up for the return flight! I was very proud of him.
I think they rewarded him with tapioca pudding.
Tapioca was one of the few desserts my grandmother made that I didn't like!
I never liked it either. What is it with older people and tapioca? I never liked it either.
Beats me. Easier to gum it?
Not a mental picture I wanted.
I still can’t believe this guy is our President …
Hildabeast probably doesn't believe it either. Joe may not be aware he is President of the US, he might think he is president of an ice cream club.
It’s amazing isn’t it.
his press secretary handles him like a little kid and he’s the supposed leader of the free world.
What is even more amazing is the folks who universally support him, are still ripping on Trump over three years later.
I wonder if he'll finally have the courage to strongly state that Iran funds and supports Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Islamic terrorists.
I also wonder if we'll be provided with subtitles so we can understand what he mumbles.
You know as well as the rest of us those subtitles will just say "kljpoiuuapf l adslifjaodsifupasidfj lakjdsfoiausdfopiasujdf. a;lkoifaufsd"
True. Actually, I've always felt sorry for the ASL translators assigned to Biden and Fetterman.
You usually don't get push back when you are talking to your shadow.
I'm curious, did they sign a promissory not saying they will repay the money? You know, like the note they are having the evacuees sign? Has Ukraine signed one?
You know, Israel cannot ensure the safety of humanitarian workers inside Israel because Israel is under attack. That inconvenient truth is expeditiously ignored just so Biden looks like a strong leader who has done something.
Even Biden acknowledges that what he got done for providing humanitarian relief was accomplished through telephone diplomacy with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Biden didn't need to go to Tel-Aviv and wag fingers at Netanyahu to call El-Sisi on the telephone.
And the hits just keep coming....it's like some kind of nightmare as this nitwit keeps wandering around.
