HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Several local lawmakers are firing back after learning former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was placed on the terror watch list.

Representatives Gene Ward, Diamond Garcia, Davis Alcos and Elijah Pierick sent a letter to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) asking for answers and calling the move “harassment.”

The Air Marshal National Council says whistle-blowers told them that Gabbard is included in the Quiet Skies program, which monitors “elevated risks to aviation security.”

Reports say at least five agents and two explosive detection canine teams were following Gabbard and her husband last month.

heir joint statement said in part:

The people of Hawaii love Tulsi and your actions have offended us for your attempt to ruin her reputation without explanation. Again, as leaders in the State of Hawaii, we remind you that this is not China or Russia and our government is not to overstep the boundaries that have been set by our US Constitution nor should ever attempt to weaponize its regulatory powers. You have embarrassed the State of Hawaii in our eyes, and we plead with you to clarify this without hesitation.

Gabbard, who had highly been critical of the Biden Administration, says the decision to track her is unconstitutional and politically motivated.

The TSA has not responded to a request for comment.

Yes, the Biden administration will, indeed, use government autocratic authority against political rivals.  Even Democrats can be targets.  Those who forced Biden to give up his reelection bid should watch their backs.

The Dems are pissed at her for becoming an independent and campaigning for Republican candidates. Just another example of the Dems going all Soviet style and using Federal agencies to harass her and her family.

Gabbard was put on this list two days after cackles “earned” the dem nomination. Coincidence? I doubt it.

the Quiet Skies program

It’s a program that started during the Trump administration. Apparently almost anything can get you put on this list, from travel destinations to certain facial expressions in an airport. Sounds too vague to actually be useful, and I doubt it’s the kind of thing where any record of results would be made public.

Do you have a link for that? According to this report from the BBC, it's been around since 2010.

Travellers are not notified when they have been added to the "Quiet Skies" list, which US media report contains fewer than 50 people.

The programme had been a previously undisclosed TSA operation, but has been in place since 2010.

I found it in the Boston Globe , which seemed to indicate 2018, but then I found a TSA doc that says 2011, so who knows.

Sigh…..

The TSA Quiet Skies program was established in 2012 to provide enhanced screening of certain passengers unknown to TSA that might present an elevated risk to the transportation system.

.

FFS not everything is trumps fault.

I’ve seen at least three different dates now. Not really the most important aspect.

FFS not everything is trumps fault.

I didn’t blame anything on Trump. I simply relayed what I had read about when it started. I can’t imagine how that would impact a decision the TSA made in 2024, can you?

I also don’t imagine that any president would have direct influence on the placement of any individual on this list. Did you tell Nerm that not everything is Kamala Harris’s or Joe Biden’s fault? FFS? Did you get defensive when Greg blamed the Democrats? Save that BS for someone it actually applies to.
