Biden approval rating is at new low, according to Reuters/Ipsos poll - Deseret News
A majority of Americans disapprove of President Biden's job performance and most are unhappy with the way things are going in the country.

President Joe Biden's approval rating has sunk to a new low, with only 36% of Americans saying they approve of his job performance and 59% saying they disapprove, according to the latest polls from Reuters/Ipsos. Biden's current approval rating is just a few percentage points higher than the 33% low former President Donald Trump hit in December 2017, according to Reuters.

Biden's current approval rating also represents a 6% slide from the previous week, when it was at 42%, Reuters reported.

This time last year, Biden's approval rating was 63%, nearly twice what it is now, according to Forbes.

Only 16% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country, according to the most recent Gallup poll, while 83% of Americans expressed dissatisfaction.

Differences showed up along party lines in both polls:

  • Ninety percent of Republicans disapproved of Biden's job performance while 72% of Democrats approved of Biden's leadership, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll.
  • Four percent of Republicans reported being satisfied with how things are going in the country, according to Gallup, compared to 24% of Democrats.

Americans of both parties, however, agree about one thing. When asked what concerns them the most — the economy, the health care system, the environment, inequality and crime were among their options — a strong consensus emerged around the economy.

Around one-third of Americans (36%) said the economy was the most important issue, according to Reuters, and it was the top concern of Democrats and Republicans alike. For Democrats, inequality came in a distant second at 12%; for Republicans, it was immigration.

With midterms on the horizon, some have speculated that Biden's low approval ratings could cost them the control of the House of Representatives.

"I don't know what's required here," South Carolina's Democrat Rep. James Clyburn said to NBC News, "But I do know the poll numbers have been stuck where they are for far too long."

Funny how it seems more and more people are admitting having buyers remorse with joe. I wonder how bad things have to get for some of the others to come around

I would not know, I'm still alive and as of yet have had no valid excuse to vote in an American election.

I'm still alive

Good point. How many of the people in the poll that think joe is good for the country are no longer alive? That would explain alot.

We are unable to find even the most tenuous toehold of a common cause or collective national identity.

So if 72% of Democrats approve of his leadership,  does he have any Independents who still approve of him?  The numbers kind of suggest that he doesn't.  Kind of makes me wonder if that's why he goes back to Delaware each weekend, so he can hide out in his basement...

I didn't realize so many dems preferred weak, lead from behind leaders. Probably the same people that wanted everyone to get participation trophies in the 90's.

Remember, he will most likely be running against Trump, and last election independents turned out in record droves to vote against Trump.

Don't know the answer to that.  Do you think Trump calls to ask if he can hide out in the Whitehouse bunker every time he sees a protestor?

I believe there are a lot of Independents and conservatives who are hoping that Trump decides not to run in 24.  Time will tell.  But I'm not so sure that 24 would be a repeat of 20.  In 20 there was a huge voting block that voted against Trump, not so sure they would vote that way again based on what the past two years have brought.  Again, time will tell.

Anyone who would consider voting for Donald Trump, ever again, after he tried to steal the 2020 election , should be ashamed of themselves.

This country may be finished.

I agree time might tell assuming Donald gets nominated and Joe runs again. If things continue as they are I would guess lots of people holding their noses as they walk into the voting booth and a victory for Donald.  Personally I hope neither one runs.

Might be a good time to move to Canada before the US real estate market crashes.

If the choice was Donald or Joe with the state of things remaining the same I would have no problem holding my nose and voting for trump with no shame. Anyone voting for a person driving the country over.a.cliff should be ashamed of themselves

I completely agree on that.  Only the Trump extremists (and of course white nationalists) are wanting him to run.

In 20 there was a huge voting block that voted against Trump, not so sure they would vote that way again based on what the past two years have brought.

Again, I agree.  However your wording is exactly correct.  They voted AGAINST Trump.  It would not have mattered who Trump was running against, Trump's ultimate toxicity and corruption during his 4 years, turned those millions of voters against him.  They did not vote FOR anyone, they only voted AGAINST Trump.  If Trump runs again, it may not be at the same level, but an overwhelming number will still turn out to vote AGAINST him.

I guess the idea of doing something to actually make people's lives better has not occurred to them as a way to improve Joe's approval ratings.

There are a couple of items I am perplexed that Biden is doing.

1.  Fail to understand why the only foreign aircraft permitted to operate over Ukranian airspace is Russian.

     a.  Would I be correct to assume that US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine fighter and fighter-bomber pilots do not wish to prove their mettle against their Russian counterparts?

     b.  Does Biden not believe that US and NATO airpower would be able to clear Russian occupying forces from Ukraine within a matter of days or weeks?

2.  Assuming the quarterly reports from US OIL are accurate, showing the largest profit margins in history.  Why doesn't the Biden Administration acknowledge that fact and explain to the American public why the margins of profit are essential to our security and economy.

As to Biden's alleged low approval ratings.  Is it possible that a significant number of Americans are dissatisfied that people such as Bannon, Gorka, Stone, Manafort, Flynn and many other pro-autocratic figures remain free and active to dismantle and disrupt our democracy?

The US Army doesn't have fighter or fighter-bomber aircraft.  Apparently, we  aren't asking our ground or sea forces to prove their mettle there either.

Does Biden not believe that US and NATO airpower would be able to clear Russian occupying forces from Ukraine within a matter of days or weeks?

Biden doesn't decide unilaterally for NATO.

Assuming the quarterly reports from US OIL are accurate, showing the largest profit margins in history.  Why doesn't the Biden Administration acknowledge that fact and explain to the American public why the margins of profit are essential to our security and economy.

What's their return on equity over the last ten years?

Is it possible that a significant number of Americans are dissatisfied that people such as Bannon, Gorka, Stone, Manafort, Flynn and many other pro-autocratic figures remain free and active to dismantle and disrupt our democracy?

Do you think that Biden should order the DOJ to make arrests?
