Kamala Harris complains media have failed to cover 'strength' of her leadership

Kamala Harris has complained that the media has not covered the "strength" of her "leadership" as much as the seismic decision to overturn Roe v Wade and abortion rights in America.
The 58-year-old made history as the first woman, first Black American and first Asian-American to become vice president, but her popularity has plummeted amid a staffing exodus and accusations she has failed to respond adequately to the southern border crisis.
In an end-of-year conversation with Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart, Ms Harris lashed out at the media, saying: "What you've been able to see is based on what gets covered.
"There are things that I've done as vice president that fully demonstrate the strength of my leadership as vice president that have not received the kind of coverage that I think Dobbs did receive," Ms Harris said, referring to the Roe v Wade decision to no longer enshrine the right to abortion in federal law.
While news coverage of the Supreme Court's decision to change the course of American history reflected the importance of the moment, Ms Harris complained that nothing she has done in the last two years has been so widely reported.
Lamenting the coverage of her own appearances, she specifically mentioned her speech at the Munich security conference in February. Then, just days before Russia invaded Ukraine, she reaffirmed America's commitment to Ukraine and promised "swift, severe and united consequences" for Russia.
At the time, critics called it a "word salad" and said she appeared to be "perpetually unprepared."
Some of the most damaging stories about Ms Harris have come from within her own office. A staffing exodus from her team has reportedly been driven in part by her aides' fears of being branded a "Harris person" ahead of the 2024 election.
In April, her chief of staff Tina Flournoy quit, following Ms Harris's deputy chief of staff, speech writer and several senior advisers out of the door.
One of the most important areas Ms Harris has been tasked with confronting is the wave of migrants on the Southern border. In November, a record 233,740 migrants were apprehended.
The number of undocumented immigrant crossings at the southwest border for fiscal year 2022 topped 2.76 million, breaking the previous annual record by more than 1 million, according to Customs and Border Protection data.
Despite this, she has not visited the border since June 2021.
At the end of the Washington Post piece, Mr Capehart concedes: "I'm not saying that Kamala Harris walks on water.
But he added: "Not being tethered to Washington by the pandemic or the threat of razor-thin votes means Harris can travel in the coming months. She can hear directly from the American people, and they can hear directly from her. They can take the measure of her. And they can see what I saw on Monday: a vice president better than her portrayal in the media."

I'd say the media has been pretty accurate actually. The woman hasn't done anything so what's there to cover?
Maybe her infamous word salads.
And to think Joe could have just as easily have picked Val Demings, who was also a black woman. The difference was Demings could speak and had a modicum of intelligence. Instead, they wasted Demings in a race they could never win against Marco Rubio. There are times when we have to ask how such people have gotten away with so much?
Idiots like Biden and Harris are easy to manipulate. That's why they were chosen. Demings would have ruined their plans.
Lol, so that's why she had to walk the plank!
I don't know what she's grousing about. She's fulfilled her two jobs laid out in the US Constitution, just like any other VP has done. Does her arrogant hubris make her think that presiding over the Senate as a black woman makes her more newsworthy and special than her predecessors?
Maybe if she put some effort into completing the jobs her boss has given her she could become "more special". She can start with securing the southern border, because she's been an abysmal failure with that job.
