Over the weekend, several big names spoke at Jackson's retirement ceremony, including Vice President Kamala Harris.

Upon taking the stage, Harris began to speak in a voice that she does not normally use. She began to speak in a heavy southern accent, raising the inflection of her voice at the end of each sentence. What has gotten into Kamala? See a video of that strange affectation below…

Remember, the only reason Kamala Harris gets to claim that she is black is because her father is from Jamaica. He mother is Indian, and Harris was raised in an affluent part of California. She attended the best law schools in the Country. It's more than obvious that Harris is playing it up.

Harris then ranted about Rainbow PUSH, claiming that Jesse Jackson 'defined the rainbow'. The cameras pan to an audience that is obviously not amused by Kamala Harris' remarks. Who wrote the speech, a kindergartner? See a clip of that moment below…

Another brain cell killer from right wing media.

There is an 8 second clip of Harris affecting a southern accent as she praises an unnamed congressperson. It would not be a wild assumption to think that that momentary accent was meant as a tribute to that person.

In the other clip of the event that appears in the seeded article Harris is using her "own" voice and accent to praise Jesse Jackson.

It is a little scary to see how much MAGA's obsess and get mean over such obvious trivia.

Not so much bizarre as desperate.  Every right wing article here seems to be a more desperate attempt at unhinged narratives than the last.

But, it's OK to be racist when you're a Dem/Lib VP, eh - regardless of "how many seconds it takes"????

Jeeezzzz - most of us can remember when you and your Dem/Lib crew hit the friggin' wall when Trump "supposedly" made fun of a handicapped person, but now "you guys" believe it's OK for your vegetable mouth'd VP to make racist overtones/comments?

"But, it was only for 8 seconds"  What - there's a time limit as to how long you're allowed to be racist if you're a Dem/Lib VP????

Oh yeah - "we can", but "you can't" 'cause of who/what we are.

Oh yeah - do you even have the foggiest idea of the fact that MAGA is NOT A POLITICAL PARTY?????  Guess not - you abuse the term quite frequently as does your "Prez" and, again, NO I DID NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP OR BIDEN (can't stand either of them).

Why the fuck would Kamala Harris come to Chicago and talk with a southern accent unless it was to tease an individual?  She's probably friends with the person she was imitating. This whole thing is ridiculous.

Do you have any idea what she was refrring to with that accent for 10 seconds?

 No you dont

If she used that accent for her entire speech you might have a point, but she didnt. In the other clip she is using her normal voice.

It is obvious that the "accent" was for effect and not an attempt to fool anyone. Like I said, this whole thing is ridiculous.

And look at what you just "wrote" - Kamala - from CA, goes to Chicago - in the north - to "praise" a SC born but Chicago raised Civil Rights leader - and uses a very "Fake" southern drawl at the intro of her speech - WHY???

I spend many years in the South and get thoroughly disgusted at the "Aw, that's cute - would you say it again"'s.  I'm not talking to you or others 'cause it's "cute" - it's the way I talk.  And, because I speak with a "Southern Drawl", a number of folks - 'SPECIALLY from the North - assume/treat me as though I'm lower class, am uneducated, live in a trailer, drive a pick'm'up truck, drink beer all day long, keep my wife in the kitchen pregnant 365 a year.

Read the law John - you can't discriminate through actions, words, activities, hiring practices

  • The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.
  • The Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibit discrimination in employment on the basis of race, color, sex, ethnic origin, age, and disabilities.

Unfortunately, discrimination still occurs.

Yet experts say that smaller, less obvious examples of day-to-day discrimination—receiving poorer service at stores or restaurants, being treated with less courtesy and respect, or being treated as less intelligent or less trustworthy—may be more common than major discrimination. Such day-to-day discrimination frequently comes in the form of “microaggressions” such as snubs, slights, and misguided comments that suggest a person doesn’t belong or invalidates his or her experiences.

To me, someone raised in the South, what Kamala did was as Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and others to "be cute".  It's not being "cute".

Nobody chooses where they are born. Nobody, no matter where they are from, should ever feel like they have to hide who they are and mask their accent. Many from the south have to do this because of jokes and continued stereotyping like this. Of course it isn't acceptable, it's disgusting. If I want my ideas to be acknowledged I have to hide my own accent because people will think I'm just some redneck idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about. I didn't choose where I grew up. I made many of the same logical conclusions about my beliefs as most. I just had to work harder to get there because nobody bothers to reach out to the south. Everyone just writes us off as a bunch of redneck idiots. Progress should be for everyone and it should be unacceptable for those who seek it to actively perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

The VP of the U.S. "SHOULD KNOW BETTER" - obviously not.

And, yes John, I am friggin' serious about it.  Maybe you should try it - being serious when asked a serious question.

Exactly, Jesse picked a relatively safe spot with Jackson Park Highlands, The million-dollar homes there housing some of Chicago’s Black elite, with closed off by cul-de-sacs is much safer than Terror Town to the southeast.

It's sad that Kamala thinks that it's cool or endearing to affect a "southern Black" accent when anyone who's read her biography knows she grew up in CA, IL and other mid-west states, and Canada. Obama and Hillary have done the same racial pandering. Maybe they think that all Americans are stupid.
