House Republicans are closer to holding the First Son, Hunter Biden, in contempt after he refused to comply with a congressional subpoena for closed-door testimony and had a press conference in front of Congress.

James Comer, an Oversight Committee Chairman, was joined by the Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, and the two Republicans said Biden "blatantly defied" subpoenas. The two issued a joint statement.

Statement by Comer and Jordan

The statement reads, "Our investigation has produced significant evidence suggesting President Biden knew of, participated in, and benefitted from his family cashing in on the Biden name." Comer and Jordan added, "We will not provide him with special treatment because of his last name.

Jamie Raskin of Maryland, part of the Oversight Committee, "Instead of taking yes for an answer, Chairman Comer has now obstructed his own hapless investigation by denying Hunter Biden the opportunity to answer all the committee's questions in front of the American people and the world." Raskin was referring to Biden's request for an open hearing.

Hunter Biden held a press conference on Capitol Hill after he was denied an open hearing. He said, "My father was not financially involved in my business, not as a practicing lawyer, not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with the Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home and abroad, and certainly not as an artist."

President Biden's son Hunter continued, "There is no evidence to support the allegations that my father was financially involved in my business because it did not happen." But, he also added how the GOP mocked his "struggle with addiction" and tried to "dehumanize" him.

The First son asked, "Republicans do not want an open process where Americans can see their tactics, expose their baseless inquiry, or hear what I have to say. What are they afraid of? I am here."

According to Hunter Biden's lawyers, Hunter was "making this choice because the Committee has demonstrated time and again it uses closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort, the facts and misinform the American public—a hearing would ensure transparency and truth in these proceedings."

GOP's Comer and Jordan said that a brief hearing divided among Democrats and Republicans would not be sufficient, while legal counsel can do more behind closed doors.

Many questioned Jordan's reported subpoena issued by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6. Daily Beast reminded that Ohio Republican, "after defying subpoenas to appear for depositions before the committee, Jordan was referred to the House ethics committee."

Jim Jordan violated House ethics by defying subpoenas, the Jan. 6 committee concluded. Still, his spokesman said that it was "a "political stunt made by a Select Committee that knowingly altered evidence, blocked minority representation on a committee for the first time in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives, and failed to respond to Mr. Jordan's numerous letters and concerns surrounding the politicization and legitimacy of the committee's work."

On X, the high-ranked Democrat and constitutional law professor shared in December, "Hunter Biden will answer questions under oath in front of the world—but unless he testifies in secret so he can be misquoted, @RepJamesComer will hold him in contempt? What a joke. Jim Jordan blew off HIS subpoena. Comer doesn't want the truth—and can't handle it."

The Associated Press reviewed documents regarding Comer's alleged wealth, but he denied any wrongdoing in establishing a shell company. Instead, Comer called out Democrats and added how the criticism "only dumb, financially illiterate people pick up on."

Cut Hunter Biden zero slack.

Hold him in contempt.

Make him testify and explain some things for America.

Find out what the Bidens were selling, and in exchange for what exactly?

You do realize they have failed to find any actual evidence to date, [Deleted]

Why do you suppose they haven’t found any REAL evidence yet Tex, [Deleted]

Didnt one of their main witnesses against Biden’s son disappear ?

You do realize they have failed to find any actual evidence to date, yet there has been recent reports about a certain former potus, whom shall not be named, having profited over $5 Million to date from China, China, China

Take your Trump shit and hit the road.

You may choose to not to see anything wrong with the Bidens, but I won't.

Joe Biden has lied repeatedly.

Proven lies.

Do you realize that the Brandon administration has violated every law and norm go after their political opponents?

Do you realize that Garland violated the US Constitution by appointing Weiss (who has known ties to the Brandon family) as special counsel/ for both Hunter and Brandon?

[Deleted] Meanwhile Brandon and Hunter still can't explain why they were using multiple LLC's to hide money transfers to their family from foreign companies and countries. That Hunter still can't explain what services he was offering to these individuals and companies to get millions of dollars. That Hunter's Chinese government connected sugar daddy paid over 2 million of his back taxes for him. What was he given in return?

As for the witness- ask fucking Garland and the DOJ why he went into hiding. Seems that being a whistle blower against Brandon and Hunter is hazardous to your legal health in the US with Garland as the AG.

[So here's what happened, gentleman.  Somebody, and I don't remember who it was, flagged iggy's comment about Trump as off topic.  As it was off-topic according to the seeder's Red Box Rules, I ticketed it as such.]

[However, other comments were made about Trump by other commenters.  They, oddly enough, were not flagged as off topic.  Surely, this must have been an oversight, so I did the seeder the favor of enforcing his Red Box Rules equitably.]

Hunter had everything cleared up with his taxes and the revolver charge (he denied being an addict on the form) until the far, far right wingers Comey and Jordan went after his father.

(probably bought a firearm within days of having drinks myself).

(I own several so who can actually remember whether I had a drink within 18 hours back in 1986 when I purchased that Glock?).

Wow, you didn't hear that it was a judge who blew Hunter's sweetheart deal up? Something or other about blanket immunity, I think!

Your drinking habits don't interest me in the least, nor do they relate to the article.

Last warning, although it is pretty clear in the Red Box Rules.

Well, at least that is how the Red Box rules read to me, but what do I know--I only wrote them!

Well, of course Traitor Joe knew something about his son's business. His claims to have never discussed any of Hunter's business was never believable.

This may get real interesting soon enough!

Yet they have given him “special “ treatment…as in way more scrutiny than anyone not named Biden.

That's false.

Heck, they never even made Hunter register under FARA.

Our investigation

Hunter had already settled his tiny tax dept with the IRS.

I don't even own a tiny .38 snub revolver because they are weak.

Hopefully Republicans will force the hand of Garland. See if he is willing to prosecute Hunter for contempt of Congress- like he did multiple Republicans.

Willing to be he develops selective amnesia; or puts it so far on the back burner that it will be after 2024 when the suit is finally broought.

He might, but I bet he won't do it willingly.

None of his actions lead me to believe he will do the right thing on his own.

Some leftists don't want Hunter looked at because even they know something is fishy in the Biden Family.

Ain't no way Joe didn't lie repeatedly about his son's "business" of selling Joe Biden.

Hunter deserves no less than:

A fine of $6500.

A prison term of 4 months.
