Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 171 unauthorized noncitizens with a variety of criminal records ranging from murder, homicide or assault against children as part of a recent enforcement push spanning 25 major cities, the agency announced Thursday.
"These were some very bad individuals that we wanted to take off the streets," ICE Acting Director Patrick J. Lechleitner told reporters on Thursday.

Lechleitner said the group arrested included more than 100 sex offenders. Those picked up by ICE include alleged criminals who will now go through immigration proceedings for deportation.

The Biden administration has come under fire from Republicans for changing immigration enforcement priorities. Under the new structure, crossing the border illegally is not enough to make a noncitizen a top priority for removal. Instead, the ICE has focused on the most recent border crossers and those with criminal records.
"We're an intel-led organization and we're going to target these individuals based on our priorities," Lechleitner said.
The head of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Daniel Bible said the agency is also working to leverage new technology to make it easier for migrants apprehended at the border to check in and move through the immigration adjudication process.
"Depending on what cities you go to, you know, like the New York's and Miami's, there's -- there's a high volume so it's taken a while to actually get people scheduled in but what we are doing is we're leveraging technology," Bible said.
Last year ICE arrested 73,822 noncitizens with criminal records, according to the agency. But ICE officials say the agency needs more resources to continue their work targeting the full scope of criminal noncitizens.
No Trump, Fascism, memes, NT Rules also apply.
But they are just seeking asylum don't ya know. Geez................/S
Do you understand they are being deported?
So, how is the administration doing nothing?
See comment 2.
171/249,785 (in Dec) equals 0.00068458874%
That is pretty much nothing
Yes, that one event captured 171 persons who were taken into custody on that one day in that one place in that one raid. And yet, our government captures, details and deports thousands and thousands of others regularly. Do not bullshit me!
They shouldn't have been here in the first place, period.
That is entirely on Brandon.
Seems like you are doing a pretty good job of bullshitting yourself
Obviously you didn't read the article or you would have known this little fact............
In that one place, yes THAT is bullshit from your fingers to the world.
Why did 150 dems vote against protect our communities from duis act: Reported to House (01/25/2024) This bill makes driving while intoxicated or impaired a ground for (1) barring a non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) from admission into the United States, or (2) deporting the individual.
Must be their gardeners all have DUI's and they didn't want them to get deported.
Ya know, if you even bothered to check out what ICE does, you wouldn't have written such a BS response.
Securing our nation's borders and safeguarding the integrity of our immigration system is a primary focus of ICE officers and agents throughout the country. Immigration enforcement is the largest single area of responsibility for ERO and is a critical component of the overall safety, security, and well-being of our nation.
While ERO has significant assets near the border, the majority of its immigration enforcement mission takes place in the interior of the country. To accomplish ICE's important immigration enforcement objectives, ERO coordinates closely with law enforcement partners within the U.S. and around the world. One of the most notable law enforcement coordination and partnership efforts within ERO involves the biometric and biographic identification of priority undocumented individuals who are incarcerated within federal, state, and local prisons and jails.
ERO works with law enforcement partners in the shared responsibility for ensuring the safety of our communities through a variety resources and programs. The 287(g) program enables a state or local law enforcement entity to receive delegated authority, training, and technology resources for immigration enforcement within their jurisdictions. ICE's Law Enforcement Support Center coordinates response and enforcement actions with law enforcement partners using biometrics to identify foreign-born individuals arrested for criminal offenses.
ERO also enhances the impact of multi-agency task forces through its administrative authority to arrest individuals deemed a threat to public safety on their unlawful immigration status without additional criminal charges. Finally, leveraging resources available through foreign law enforcement partners including INTERPOL and the ICE Attaché corps, ERO develops investigative leads and provides support in locating and arresting foreign nationals wanted for crimes committed abroad who are now at-large in the U.S.
ICE does NOT focus on Illegal Aliens - they focus on CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS.
Please, try to know something of which you wish to discuss before even touching your keyboard.
I am sure Joe and his minions will try to spin 171 arrests shows Joes administration is doing something about the border crisis.
170 Deportations out of 2.4 million illegal immigrants last year. Got to love those odds if you are an illegal.
