Turkish migrant says Americans should be worried by how easy it is to cross southern border

Fox News' Bill Melugin reports the latest on the migrant surge at the California border.

A Turkish migrant, who told Fox News he paid around $10,000 to a cartel on his way to the United States, selling everything he owned, said Americans should be worried about the lack of security at the southern border.

The man told Fox News after crossing illegally into Jacumba, California, in San Diego County: "In fact, American people is right, completely true. Who comes into this country? They don't know. OK, I'm good. But how if they're not good? How if they're killers, psychopath, else? No guarantee of that."

He added of crossing the border: "Like, no security, no security check, no background check."

He said he worried about who is crossing the border because "people are not normal."

He told Fox News his trek to the U.S. took him 24 days, and he traveled through Qatar, Dubai, Egypt, South Africa and Brazil before he arrived in Central America to come to the U.S.

Fox News witnessed dozens of migrants, mainly from China and Turkey, crossing into Southern California on Thursday.

San Diego County has become the busiest sector in the country for illegal crossings, with U.S. Customs and Broder Patrol saying 37,370 people came through in April, according to the Los Angeles Times.

CBP told Fox News that 120 Chinese migrants crossed into California just on Thursday.

This comes as record numbers of migrants continue to cross the border illegally, and a day after a bipartisan immigration bill failed for a second time in the Senate on a 43-50 vote after it was blocked by Republicans and a few Democrats.

"We gave Republicans a second chance to show where they stand," Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said after the vote. "Do they want to fix this so-called emergency or do they want to show blind allegiance to the former president even when they know he's wrong?"

MOST AMERICANS CALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION 'VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM,' POLLS FINDS

"Today is not a bill, today is a prop," Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., said on the floor ahead of the vote. "Everyone sees it for what it is."

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said in a statement earlier this week: "I will not vote for the bill coming to the Senate floor this week because it includes several provisions that will violate Americans' shared values. These provisions would not make us safe."

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., who along with Lankford was one of the bill's primary authors, said the bill wouldn't help keep the border safe.

"To use this failure as a political punching bag only punishes those who were courageous enough to do the hard work in the first place," she said, calling the vote "political theater."

Illegal immigration has become one of the main issues going into the 2024 presidential election this fall.

It's telling that those who are opposing a stand alone bill to secure the border are all blaming Republican's for the Democrat's failures.

If we only had a bipartisan immigration bill that would be the most aggressive border security and migration overhaul bill in decades. It would have to raise the standard to get asylum, send away those who don't qualify and expedite cases for those who do.  It would also end the practice of “catch and release.”  It could mandate detaining migrants who try to enter the U.S. outside of official ports of entry, pending any asylum claims. Those who fail would be removed.  Why can't we just do this?  It seems simple enough to me.

There are already laws in place that would restrict border crossings. Why would the Biden administration pay any more attention to this new bill than any other. Why did he reverse Trump's policy of keeping them in Mexico? It would still allow 5,000 illegals a DAY to cross the border. You know as well as we do that the Dems don't want to reduce the invasion of illegals.

The 5,000 a day didn't include children or got aways. So it would be still well over 5,000 a day crossing the border before anything would be done.

It was either Cloward and Piven or Alinsky on how to incrementally take over the country, you overwhelm the system, in this case immigration, to get the people demand that someone do something about it.  And here we have:

"We gave Republicans a second chance to show where they stand," Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said after the vote.

The ones that caused the problem come forth with a plan to fix it without actually fixing it, then blame their opposition for allowing the problem to persist for not supporting it.

"Do they want to fix this so-called emergency or do they want to show blind allegiance to the former president even when they know he's wrong?"

Note he can't even admit it is a very serious problem.  If it was a "so-called emergency" then why did they produce a bill to fix a non-existent problem?

They produced the bill because the House GOP had them over a barrel for funding for Ukraine and Israel.  They had a chance to get something they wanted for the border but, alas, Trump didn't want that so Biden ended up getting what he wanted and the House GOP got trumped.  Once again out-maneuvered by a supposed to be dotard.

border legislation

That is an awful broad term.  You have not heard them talking about border security and Bidens ability to do something about it now?

That would actually accomplish something worthwhile.  Obviously Chuck would never bring that up for a vote.  If Repubs take the senate it will be a done deal.

Of course-- makes perfect sense!

I know if I just broke the law, the first thing I would do is go to a major news organization and discuss it publicly!)

Do you think that under this administration that this individual has to worry about being deported?

Should Trump win, there is a very real possibility that there will be mass deportations and, as this man pointed out, when you have to pay out 10,000 dollars to the cartel to get into the US that expenditure is wasted if you then get deported, a bit of a disincentive for those still making their way, so illegal immigration may drop from now until the election, if Biden or his replacement wins there will be a spike back up and Trump they will drop even more.

Should Trump win, one of the first EO's should be that all those that have sponsored illeg..., scratch that, undocumented immigrants or is it asylum seekers, that they pay for all expenses incurred until that migrant can function on their own.  According to a woman that purchased 3 houses in a nearby town the government will pay $450/head/month for as many as she can fit inside them as long as she doesn't drop below 55 square feet/person minimum.  My home alone at that rate would net me $216,000/year from the government if I can keep it full at 2,220 square feet.
