The House of Representatives voted unanimously on Wednesday night to create a task force that would specifically investigate the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Trump was injured in the shooting at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13, along with two other attendees. One rally-goer was killed in the attack, and the gunman was killed by a sniper.

The creation of the task force was approved in a 416-0 vote, and it will consist of seven Republicans and six Democrats.

House Speaker Mike Johnson's office said that the group "will be empowered with all investigative authority of the House of Representatives including subpoena authority." They will also "make recommendations for reform to the relevant government agencies and recommend any necessary legislation to implement the reforms."

The committee's final report will be due by Dec. 13, according to the Associated Press. The task force comes after the House held three hearings this week on the shooting, and Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday after her testimony on Capitol Hill.

This may not end well for the agencies involved.

The FBI should have been giving the nation a briefing every day.

I see Christopher Wray casts doubt that Trump was hit by a bullet.................

Although, this...............

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson has said that Trump was shot in the ear creating a 2cm-wide wound, according to a memo shared with  Axios .

Shrapnel from what exactly. They already called bullshit on the teleprompter lie.

Wray only releases what he wants. What was the first piece of information we got?

Does anyone recall?

Isn't Ronny Jackson the one that lied about Trump's weight on an official document?. Then there's this...

Navy demoted Ronny Jackson after probe into White House behavior

So why is Trump still using him?  Most likely because Ronny will tell the press anything Trump wants him to, again.

Time is up.

The first morsel of information the FBI gave us was that the shooter once registered as a Republican.

It's pretty pathetic that is the 1st thing they put out.  But they had to get that out to set up their narrative.  That eventually was proven to be yet another blow to their credibility.

... and in today's highly partisan climate people ran with it, just as partisans on the other side would have ran with it had he once registered as a democrat. What we have here is a serious lack of integrity on both sides.

You are very wrong on that. It's very apparent that the USSS failed in their primary duty of protecting past and current presidents. The failure needs to be fully examined and all problems fixed before this type of incident occurs again.

Although it is easy to make fun of buffoons like James Comer and Jim Jordan, this particular quest to spew misinformation may not be a laughing matter.

Making up conspiracy theories about the Trump shooting (which is something that will invariably happen here)  is dangerous given all the willing conspiracy junkies out there with an election coming up.

So you don't think this multiple agency failure shouldn't be investigated?

Not by Jim Jordan and James Comer, who have utterly failed in whatever it is they were supposed to be doing over the past year and a half.

If they are not on the committee it might have some purpose.

With our without them the task force serves a purpose.
