Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do. In fact, he is doing more than any president has ever done in my lifetime.

Donald Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do. In fact, he is doing more than any president has ever done in my lifetime.

Gasoline prices are coming down, which is so helpful since I travel for work and school every day. I do feel a sense of being safer with the border being closed and immigration being dealt with, even though I am in a rural area and there are, to my knowledge, no problems here with that.

Opinion Forum:Trump's first month has been devastating. And people voted for all of this. | Your Turn

Another view:Trump shows how many Americans are racist. Even when they don't think they are. | Your Turn

I think Trump and his staff are doing an excellent job. I am confident they will continue. It would be wonderful for grocery prices to come down and for the cost of vehicles to come down. I am raising grandchildren, and the cost of things is heartbreaking.

As for doing anything differently, I'd like to see the president get a little rest so he can keep enduring for this country.

I sure would like to see the Democrats stop fighting against President Trump, even in my state.

Low information citizens.

Name a Trump policy that has lowered gas prices...

Explain how a 2000 mile border has been "closed", and why you even claim that it is closed.  So far in February, about 359 illegal migrants per day have been caught across the entire southern border.

The low information voters would be those that voted for Harris and other progressives. Thanks to increased drilling and exploration, we'll soon have an energy surplus which will lower gas and heating oil prices. We'll also be an exporter of LNG

Perfect irony.

The USA has been drilling and exploring for years and has been producing record levels of fossil fuel exports for years.   You might have an argument if domestic producers were realistically stifled from drilling and extraction but that simply was not the case.   So if we had seriously low levels of production due to barriers, Trump could act and make a difference.   But when we are already doing great, how much of an upside do you think there is?

Bottom line, don't buy Trump's bullshit.   He is not going to cut energy prices by 50%, not even remotely close.

Thanks to increased drilling and exploration, we'll soon have an energy surplus which will lower gas and heating oil prices.

We were already exporting more than we were importing.  Are you just blowing these unsubstantiated claims out your ass?

Exports
In 2023, the U.S. exported about 10.15 million barrels per day (b/d) of petroleum.
The top five destinations for U.S. petroleum exports were Mexico, China, the Netherlands, Canada, and Japan.
The U.S. is also the leading exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Imports
In 2023, the U.S. imported about 8.53 million b/d of petroleum.
The top five source countries for U.S. petroleum imports were Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Brazil.

What does this mean?
The U.S. has been a net exporter of oil and petroleum products since late August 2021.
Before October 2019, the U.S. consistently imported more petroleum and crude oil than it exported.
The U.S. imports some crude oil and petroleum products to help supply domestic demand and international markets.

So your real answer is "No, you don't know what you promoted".

Your crying that 359 illegals crossed the border.  That is a very sharp decrease from the THOUSANDS that were crossing only 30 days ago.

And I thought the liberal term for illegals was supposed to be "undocumented migrant".  Maybe your use of the term "illegal" is an indication that you're finally seeing the problem created by Biden and his team of idiots.

There is a common misconception that the U.S. president controls gas prices.  Which is totally false.

(If they could, then gas prices would always be very low, because every president wants to be popular-- and therefore every president would keep prices very low!)

Neither Democraticn nor Republican presidents can control the price of gas!!!

Expose your local gas persons to the wisdom of people on NT who are much more knowledgable re: gas prices than they are!

Well, Mary Ellen, pretending that Trump is doing something for you is not going to cause real results you desire.   You can kid yourself and look at anything good and claim it was a result of Trump while ignoring everything bad, but that level of confirmation bias will only make you feel good ... temporarily.

What Trump is actually doing will raise consumer prices.   Unfortunately, people like you will have to experience the real pain before this sinks in.   Unfortunately, you should have known this prior to election day.

It will be temporary, just like inflation was a few years back...........oh, wait.........never mind.

The high inflation was temporary.   You do understand that inflation went from 8+% down to below 3% and is now about 3%.    So what causes you to not recognize that the 8% was temporary?

Keep concentrating on the possible bad while the rest of us live our lives.

I focus on the reality while others engage in wishful thinking.   Tariffs are bad for consumer prices.   That is reality.   Pretending otherwise is pointless.

The "but he's going too" shit went out with the 2016 and revived from the grave in 2024 to justify all KIND of angst...................

It is not going to, it is that he has.   He has threatened and imposed tariffs.   He has damaged international trade relationships (and basic trust).  He has publicly sided with Putin against Ukraine ... and is publicly parroting Putin talking points such as Ukraine started the war, Zelensky is a dictator with a 4% approval.   He has surrounded himself with unqualified sycophants whose primary qualification is that they will do whatever he tells them to do.   He has made the USA look stupid and untrustworthy on the global stage.   He has embarrassed the USA with his endless lying (Macron just publicly corrected his lie about Ukraine funding).  He has the planet laughing at his idiotic notion of the Riviera of the Middle East and relocating 2 million Gaza inhabitants.   He has overstepped his bounds trying to remove the constitutional protection of jus soli, firing of inspectors general, etc.

For starters.

What is amazing is that too many Trump supporters do not see any of this.   "All is just fine.   Trump is doing great."   It is a sad state of affairs.

Trump makes me feel safe

This is an interesting phenomenon to me.

The whole "feel safe" idea is a massive driver of votes on both sides of the aisle.  It's something I acknowledge but struggle to understand.

Statistically speaking, Americans have far less to fear than most people in the world.

Yet we still decide to be afraid, and we then decide that some person we've never met who cares less about us than most people will somehow use their Constitutionally limited influence to remove some intangible threat we made up in the first place.
