Harris Taunts Trump After He Backs Out of Debates

"What happened to 'any time, any place'?"
Nearly five months after Donald Trump vowed on social media that he would debate "ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE," the former president has backed out of that promise.
"Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee," Trump's communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement.
Cheung referenced former president Barack Obama, who has yet to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, and claimed that there "is a strong sense" in the Democrat Party that Harris "cannot beat President Trump, and they are still holding out for someone 'better.'"
"Therefore, it would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds," wrote Cheung.
The news arrives after Trump and President Joe Biden previously agreed to two televised debates, one on June 27 and the other on Sept. 10, before the first took a disastrous turn as Biden's performance cast widespread doubt among the Democratic party and led to calls for him to step aside for a younger, more able nominee.
Amid the mounting outcry, Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and minutes later, endorsed Harris. "Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year," wrote Biden in a statement at the time. "Democrats — it's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this." His endorsement was soon followed by other party leaders, including former president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
Earlier this week, Harris earned support from enough Democratic delegates to become the likely party nominee for president. Delegates at the Democratic national convention will still be able to vote for the candidate of their choice in August, however, and a virtual roll call will be held during which convention delegates can pick a nominee prior to the Chicago event.
Trump, who previously said that the debates could be "run by the Corrupt DNC" when faced with Biden as an opponent, recently said that he believes a debate against Harris should be hosted by Fox News, instead of ABC News.
Despite his waning eagerness to take on Harris, on Thursday, the vice president said she is "ready to go" in a showdown against Trump and accused him of "backpedaling."
"I have agreed to the previously agreed upon Sept. 10 debate. He agreed to that previously," Harris said. "Now, here he is backpedaling, and I'm ready, and I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage, and so I'm ready. Let's go."

Shortly after Trump's campaign released the statement backing out of the scheduled debate, Harris posted to X: "What happened to 'any time, any place'?"

And yet nowhere in the article (except for the headline which doesn't match the content of the article) does it state that Trump has backed out of any debates with Harris. A very lame article but what can one expect from the Rolling Stone.

Im not sure what angle you are coming at this with, but that is not a legitimate excuse. Call it hesitating if you want, it is still dodging.
Trump could just say "yes" and then if Harris is not the nominee (1 in 1000 chance) just stay home that night.
Or simply agree to debate whomever is the D nominee.
Well both Barack and Michelle Obama have endorsed Harris now, so what excuse will they come up with next? The delegate vote will come next week via phone to make the nominee official before the Convention on the 19th.
If they do that , no need for a convention then in my view and opinion .
this should be a lesson for democrats in all future elections. the trump campaign has been going on for how long? he went stale. why not a remote 21st century solution for the voters, the majority of which don't need a lot of time to make an educated decision, and are more adept at compressed deadlines. women, minorities and young voters are the largest voting blocks and make up a substantial portion of legitimate independents. democrats will be voting against trump regardless.

The Ds have clearly gone all in for Harris. I do not see how you can reasonably believe that they are holding out for someone better.
every day trump delays is a beating he'll take in the media or from kamala ...
Let's hope that continues regardless of a debate schedule. Half of the nation is living in a cult fantasy and I think some of them are still salvageable if they are informed.

The only person on this planet that Harris could debate successfully is Biden; and he isn't running. I am sure calling him a racist again will do wonders for her. It is the only line she has.
Funny how Democrats are not pearl clenching over Trump; when Trump has said anything about debates.
Trump does need to hold out for favorable terms for any debate.
Harris is not going to get to dictate terms like Biden did.

I hope we get to see Trump try to debate Harris. I doubt his junkyard dog tactics are going to work well with a former prosecuting attorney. He will spit off a litany of lies and I expect she will hold him accountable.
Biden was past the point where he was quick on his feet; Harris does not have that problem.
The one thing that concerns me is the border. It is not clear how Harris defends the handling of the border by the Biden administration, but I suspect the team will be prepared for the attack.
Because she did so well in the 2020 primary debates.
Again, the only person she could do well against it Biden (who wasn't quick on his feet in 2020)- and he won't be her opponent.
