Jim Jordan Claims Trump Has 'Never Been About Retribution' As White House Mulls Pardons
By: Yahoo News
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said Thursday Donald Trump has "never been about retribution" as the White House weighs the idea of preemptive pardons for people that have long been in the president-elect's crosshairs.
Several media outlets reported Thursday that senior White House aides were having serious discussions about potential pardons for some of Trump's political enemies. Names bandied about include former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), California Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D), and Anthony Fauci, the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.
Fox News host Larry Kudlow asked Jordan — a fierce backer of the president-elect — what Democrats were planning. The Ohio Republican went on to compare the effort to the group of Trump allies who asked the former president for pardons of their own during the waning days of his first term in office over their roles in the effort to overturn the 2020 election.
"[Democrats] went after some of my colleagues who they said asked for pardons, I don't know that they ever did," Jordan said Thursday. "This is ridiculous. Donald Trump has never been about retribution. Donald Trump has been stopping these agencies from being weaponized against we the people. And frankly, from being weaponized against him."
Some of Trump's closest allies in Congress that reportedly asked Trump for pardons included former Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). Jordan himself was also identified as someone who talked about pardons for Trump's allies, although he never asked for one himself, a former Trump official told the House Jan. 6 committee in 2022.
Despite Jordan's claims on Thursday, Trump has repeatedly vowed to enact revenge on those he has deemed as political enemies. He said Cheney was among those on the House Jan. 6 committee who should "go to jail," and he called Schiff and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) both "enemies from within."
Trump has also regularly accused President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama of corruption, saying he would leverage the Justice Department to investigate them.
The president-elect has also announced his plans to nominate a slate of loyalists to lead the nation's justice and law enforcement agencies, all of whom have long backed his plans for retribution.
"I am your warrior, I am your justice," Trump told supporters in Texas last year. "For those who have been wronged and betrayed … I am your retribution."

Welcome to the Orwellian dystopia.
The same Jim Jordan who chaired the committee for unamerican activities and who spent years trying to dig up dirt on Uncle Joe and company?
Yep. That's the guy.
......has never passed or even sponsored ONE bill since he has been in congress.

the same guy that was allegedly clueless about his pedophile peers in the OSU wrestling program ...
I forgot about that. He is one of the biggest scumbagz currently in office.
understandable, incest and pedophilia has been an acceptable xtian conservative family value since genesis ...

I don’t know, nerm…perhaps having the basic human right to determine one’s own health and life decisions, sans puritanical religious legislation?

“A woman has more choice over tattoos and body piercings than abortion. The woman only chooses to contract for a service.”
In what world is this in anyway, in any case acceptable?
A consultation with a doctor, in discussing sometimes difficult life choices, is a protected discussion.
Until the procedure, when those who have absolutely no stake, no standing in determining what is in the best interest of an individual patient, somehow feel they have some inexplicable duty to intervene, intercede, and invoke their imagined authority.

“So is confession to a priest. Hail Mary, full of grace, the doctor is with thee to protect your God given right to choose. Pay the receptionist on your way out.”
oh, nerm…you’re tying yourself in to nots…forgetting the premise. Women have rights.
the hypocrisy of anti-choicers regarding individual freedoms concerning healthcare was laid bare during covid ...
The Trump influenced anti-choice anti-science fascists kept following him down the rabbit hole to become anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers. They definitely fought for their supposed right to infect the rest of us who followed sensible guidelines.
meh, at least we'll know what to do the next time a pandemic hits the knuckle draggers ...
They always forget to mention that Trump also said his success will be his revenge.
Trump said he would weaponize the DOJ to go after his adversaries.
the way that POS has been shooting his mouth off, I can hardly wait for his day 1, because that will determine how days 2 thru 1460 will go for him and his cult.

You continue to intentionally misuse the fact-checker. The fact-checker is prompt-based. That means it is not AI but rather a search engine which uses your prompt (your query) to match its database of fact-check reports. Thus how you phrase your query matters.
Getting no results does not mean that the claim (in concept) does not exist publicly with a fact check. Of course Trump did not use the exact language of the prompt you provided, but he certainly made comments similar to that (arguably worse) ... weaponizing the military.
For example this prompt delivered the following from Google Fact-Checker and quite a few entries from Politifact. Here are the Google Fact-Checker entries:
Stated Claim: Trump enemies within
Engaging in dishonesty is not the way to operate.

Exactly what time of your video did he say he would "weaponize the DOJ against his enemies", as the original claim stated?
There are plenty of exact words that Trump has not stated. You continue to play a literal game to dishonestly attempt to excuse Trump.
What he has stated, as I showed, is that he would actually use the National Guard or the Military to go after 'enemies within'. That is an extraordinary abuse of presidential power especially since he named Pelosi and Schiff as example 'enemies within'.
So if this scoundrel would publicly make such a statement, and others such as claiming the entire Jan 6th committee should go to jail, that illustrates the warped perspective of the loose-cannon you helped vote into office.

oh man, am I going to have fun with trumpsters the first time their POS hero steps on the constitution ...
That was actually pretty funny
In a new interview, Trump was asked by Kristin Welker if he was going to appoint a special prosecutor to go after Joe Biden. Trump feigns ignorance of the question as if to say why would you ask that, and then Welker reads a truth social he made last year where he plainly says he will appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Joe Biden
Trump then simply ignores what he wrote and says it will all be up to Bondi. Of course Bondi is a puppet.
I never made that claim. That is a blatant lie. Read what I wrote. What I claimed he said is shown in the results AND in the video I posted. You can listen to the asshole make the claim with his own words.
My focus was on your dishonest abuse of fact-checkers.
Further, educate yourself on the mindset of the vindictive prick you voted for:
I'm always torn between deleting hilarious exhibitions of misinformed ignorance versus leaving them up for all to see ...
Do you know what paraphrasing is?
Never mind, "what difference does it make."
He will do anything to protect that fragile ego of his.
Seems that Trump still doesn't understand the concept of video tape and how it can remember what a person says. So many times we've seen him in press conferences saying "I didn't say that" when it is obvious that he did tell that lie or say something reprehensible.
This lying POS will never be my president!
As long as you live in the US he will be, no matter how many times you deny it.
If you'll be allowed to....
it's always easier to apologize than it is to get permission ...
He's already stepped on it, and wiped his feet on it multiple times. His MAGA followers don't care...
he toed the line plenty his last term and his ego will make him step across it with both feet in about 42 days to appease his moronic sycophants ...
He more than toed the line.... Just 1 example:
The Emoluments Clause
Profiting off the Presidency: Trump’s Violations of the Emoluments Clauses
... that's just business to maga. I'm talking about major shit, when laser dots start showing up on them ...
If this doesn't cause them pause, nothing will.
... weren't the russians supposed to send a truck for all that?
I think he was still waiting for Putin's check to clear. However the joke is on Putin since he probably sold the same documents to Xi.
the chinese had already been thru all that paperwork with their spies inside the janitorial contractor at mar-a-lardo.
He sent them out to Kincos to be copied...
all the classified stuff they haven't found yet is sharing the casket with trump's first wife ...
It will be a cold day in hell when I believe anything that the most prolific liar on the planet ever says.
Of all the dumb ass shit Jordan has said over the years (he's from Ohio so his dumb remarks get good coverage back here) this one goes right to the "dumbest of all time" level
Well, the fear seems justified since the people at risk know where the skeletons are hidden. But that avoids the pertinent issue. Is seeking justice revenge or reckoning? Is being held accountable an act of retribution?
A pardon won't provide any protection against future crimes. A pardon doesn't exempt anyone from being required to give testimony as a witness. And the pardon frees the witness to disclose everything since there is no longer risk of incrimination. A pardon won't protect that witness from future charges of contempt or perjury. And now lying to the FBI is a criminal offense that carries a sentence of jail time.
Biden pardoning all these people may actually further Trump's pursuit of accountability and justice. Immunity from prosecution means those who have been pardoned have no reason to lie.
Will never happen...
Trump is a lifelong liar and serial criminal.
Goes to show ya what the republican party is.
Did the prison vote win it for Trump?
Must have been the battered women vote.
Pretty sure white collar felons voted for him.
And then there was the Fox 80 IQ. club.
Whoever voted for Trump, "may you live in interesting times."
by stalling and delaying a process? we've had more than 8 years of that already ...
Dear Jim, please don’t make public comments any longer, it’s embarrassing to the citizens of Ohio.
he's an embarrassment to any elected office in the US, and so is his goober henchman jim comer ...
It continually amazes me how low IQ fascist morons get elected to public office.
Probably has something to do with nuclear and chemical waste in those Southern states they come from.
I feel sad for them but wouldn't have any one of them for a garbage collector in my neck of the woods.
Didn't we fight and win against fascism in WWII?
And now foreigners at Fox want to attack us again?
What's wrong with this picture folks?
Far right wingers (fascists) will destroy democracy.
I think colorado only had 4 or 6 of the J6 insurrectionists, and if I remember correctly, when 2 were released from jail and came back they left the state shortly after. because they knew what would happen to them here ...
Only short about 13-15. Total was 19
meh, I only care about when the traitors get let out, but thanks for the bookmark ...
sure seems like a lot of them come from the maga thumper part of the state ...
