Plastic surgeons reveal why the 'Mar-a-Lago face' trend won't go away
By: Yelena Mandenberg

The women in Donald Trump's circle are known for a distinct look , often referred to as the 'Mar-a-Lago face' trend, which is still popular in some plastic surgery clinics.
The 'Mar-a-Lago face' has been a topic of discussion, particularly with the 2024 internet trend that showcased before and after photos of Lara Trump , Kimberly Guilfoyle, Laura Loomer, and Kristi Noem, all of whom share similar alleged features.
Joan Lopez Alegre, a communications professor at Universitat Abat Oliba CEU in Barcelona, reiterated this controversy in an interview with El Pais, where experts discussed the plastic surgery procedures necessary to achieve what they refer to as 'Trump eugenics.' According to the El Pais article, someone with a 'Mar-a-Lago face' has had excessive Botox, visible facial fillers, and extreme tanning.
Santiago Martinez Magdalena, a professor at the Public University of Navarra, explained in an essay that "cosmetic procedures generate a specific, surgical kind of beauty linked to an aesthetic eugenics with 'the Caucasian model as a hygienic and normative horizon, the choice of working models and the exposure of the body as the focal point.'"
Hollywood journalist Julian Sancton comments on the trend reaching beyond women, saying, "And it's not just the women: Few of us can remember the content of former Florida Rep. (and former prospective attorney general) Matt Gaetz's RNC speech last summer, so fixated were we on the new elfin arc of his eyebrows. (And the less said about George Santos and his Botox habit the better.)"
A recent Radar article confirms that, despite online criticism, this beauty trend is still thriving in plastic surgery offices.
So why has 'Mar-a-Lago face' become the term du jour? "Donald Trump left New York because there he was seen as a tacky millionaire, while in Florida, his aesthetic makes more sense," explains Professor Joan Lopez Alegre. This point aligns with Magdelena's theory that 'access to cosmetics and cosmetic surgery' produces a uniform appearance among those in Trump's orbit.
The author further observes that the combination of wealth, estates, and businesses provides an avenue for these individuals associated with Trump to 'brand themselves. ' The phenomenon is observed even outside his immediate entourage, including figures like Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ivanka Trump, Melania, Kellyanne Conway, Steve Bannon, Tiffany Trump, Lauren Boebert, Florida Rep Anna Paulina Luna, and the infamous George Santos.
According to Magdelena, the brand distinguishes them from other politicians, conveying that they can afford the excess. The celebrities with their tans, barely effective botox, and voluminous hairstyles are sending a clear message - conform or risk being excluded from the inner government circles.

In New York individualism is celebrated. In the swamps of Florida conform or be ostracized

The difference is that clueless right wing women pay money to change their already decent looking face into a Mar-a-Lago fish face.

She looks like one of those lizards that spread "wings" when they attack.
I don't understand why anybody would pay good money to look like this. Guilfoyle was much better-looking before surgery. Now she looks like she's been rode hard and put up wet.
