Food Network host apologizes for 'flippant' comparison to Auschwitz | TheHill

Food Network host Alton Brown issued an apology on Twitter on Wednesday following a reference he made to the Holocaust in a series of tweets lamenting about the current state of the country.
In the now-deleted tweets, Brown, known for his appearances on "Good Eats," asked regarding the current post-election conditions in America, "Do you think the camp uniforms will be striped, like the ones at Auschwitz or will plaid be in vogue?" according to GrubStreet.
A user reportedly replied that that would depend on one's personal value, to which Brown responded that he has "no gold fillings."
"It was not a reference I made for humorous effect but rather to reflect how deeply frightened I am for our country," Brown said later. "It was a very poor use of judgement and in poor taste."
I apologize for the flippant reference I made to the Holocaust in my tweet last night. It was not a reference I made for humorous effect but rather to reflect how deeply frightened I am for our country. It was a very poor use of judgement and in poor taste.

Fans of the star had mixed responses to Brown's apology with some showing support and others calling for him to sign off of social media for a while.
Might want to take a break from Twitter for a while my guy. Not doing so hot the last couple of days.

Can we stick to cooking rather than having your personal political opinion thrown at us? We can find that just about everywhere else.

You're a good guy and you think. Please don't stop speaking out when you see wrong or disturbing things. The current admin is on a very dangerous path for our democracy w their rhetoric. While 30s Germany is an extreme and inaccurate analogue, we are in a very concerning place.

Brown has been vocal in the past about his concern for the country and the Republican Party under President Trump .
"I have voted Republican most of my life. I consider myself a conservative. I want to believe there are still 'very fine' people on both sides of the aisle," he wrote in a tweet on Monday, according to the New York Daily News. "But...if #GOP leaders don't get their collective noses out of that man's a--, we're gonna have words."

Sad to see politics invade every aspect of life.
