A sixth Texas Democrat who traveled to Washington, DC, in an effort to prevent a vote on a GOP-backed voting bill has tested positive for the coronavirus, a new report said.

The unidentified state lawmaker — who was among a group of Democrats who flew to the nation's capital on a private jet last week — is self-isolating, a spokeswoman for the Texas House Democrats told NBC News.

Over the weekend, five other state Democratic lawmakers tested positive for COVID-19.

The group made the trip to DC to press Congress to pass federal election reform legislation, which would supersede the Texas bill that prevents local officials from sending unsolicited absentee ballot applications.

The bill would also require, among other things, applicants to provide their driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number.

The Texas state Senate approved the sweeping bill Tuesday night. The legislation is now stalled in the House due to the lack of a quorum.

The delegation is expected to stay in DC for a month.

It wasn't immediately clear if the sixth member to test positive is fully vaccinated, but the first five to be infected have said they are.

Yup, there go the virtuous, without masks on a flight.

Mask up and get vaccinated they said. So five were vaccinated and still got it. I read the symptoms they are experiencing are pretty mild though. Still not a very good example for the rest of the non vaccinated. They are now spreaders. "That is their shame" (Thanks to the old Jim Spence from the old days of NV)

So they have to stay in DC for two weeks of isolation. Awesome. Did they revoke the per diem like they were supposed to and pay back what they had already spent I wonder? Turns out to be a rather expensive temper tantrum LOL

I agree Vic.  The Governor should immediately arrest them and lock them in the Texas state house with all the Republican legislators until they get the job done.

As opposed to the "virtuous" R's who were maskless on 6 Jan when in fear for their lives from "tourists"?

But they weren't preaching about wearing masks, were they?

That's the difference!

Nor were they in a rather confined private jet. SMH

Isn't that a private jet?  Who cares if they're not wearing masks?

Good on them for denying Tex-ass the chance to pass their latest voter suppression law.

Have any of them been arrested  yet????????????????????????????

They have to set foot in Texas for that to happen. I hear that Lindsey Graham is planning to do the same thing to democrats in the US Senate.

I'm not sure that will work in the US Senate.  When the Texas D's first flew the coop, I looked up the Senate rules for a quarum.  I'm not sure but I think the Senate assumes a quarum unless someone calls for a roll call vote or a quarum call is made.  I think the Democrats can get around that by having a voice vote.  Would need one of our legal beagles to verify that however.

It's a good question because I believe Mitch McConnell said it is an arrow in the quiver if necessary.

Yep,  I remember him saying that too.  I don't know to be honest, I watch (sometimes with horror, sometimes with a WTF face) some of what goes on in Washington but I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. All I know for sure is I really don't want to live there.

Oh ya, on that:

The price of keeping them out of Texas will be about $1.5 million, state Rep. Armando Walle   told NBC News

He said the private charter jets cost the group more than $100,000, leaving housing, meals and transportation as the bulk of the remaining costs.

The flights were paid for by the state House Democratic Caucus, and individual lawmakers have been putting bills on their personal credit cards.

The contingent of lawmakers is staying at the Washington Plaza Hotel, where rooms start at $189 a night,   according to the Texas Tribune .

Good deal!!!  That's a fraction of the cost that Trump charged his secret service whenever he went to play golf.

Isn't that a private jet?

So no social distancing or mask rules apply?

Who cares if they're not wearing masks?

I am sure the Democrat politicians that contracting Covid on their publicity excursion care now.

Good on them for denying Tex-ass the chance to pass their latest voter suppression law.

Keep the false meme up. Same question to you as anyone else. Show anything in the law that suppresses anyone's right to vote.

Have any of them been arrested  yet????????????????????????????

I am willing to bet the Republicans aren't going to bother arresting any of them; why bother to give them any more media attention. Also, their Karma already caught up to them with 6 getting Covid. Seems Democrats can't follow their own damn rules or guidelines.  On the other hand, I would love to see all of the Democrats arrested and thrown into genpop. Then they could see all of the wonderful individuals they are working so hard to restore the voting rights of up close and personal. Maybe gets some "hands on" experience with them.

All the Governor has to do is to keep calling special session after special session until Democrats come to their senses and legislate.

The longer this drags on, the better for the GOP.

Seems like Texas Democrats aren't smart enough to figure that out on their own.

And what is funny is that their stunt won't amount to a hill of beans.

Imagine being two-faced enough to demand that the US Senate end the  filibuster as they filibuster their own state legislature.

What about the Patriots?

Tom Brady: "Not a lot of people think that we could've won [the Super Bowl]. In fact, I think about 40 percent of the people still don't think we won. You understand that, Mr. President?"

This Just in:

"A spokesperson for House Speaker  Nancy Pelosi  tested positive Monday for  coronavirus  following a meeting last week with members of the  Texas  Legislature who fled the state for Washington, D.C.

Drew Hammill, a top aide to Pelosi, said the staffer was fully vaccinated and did not have recent contact with the top California Democrat, though the speaker's office is taking extra precautions as a result. "
