Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell awkwardly froze up during a press conference on Wednesday and needed assistance, just over one month after going through a similar incident in Washington DC.

McConnell, 81, was in the middle of taking reporters' questions in Kentucky when he suddenly appeared disoriented and confused.

Just before the incident occurred, McConnell was recorded answering questions from reporters about a potential government shutdown, which he said he thinks will be avoided with a short term funding deal.

"Leader McConnell felt momentarily lightheaded and paused during his press conference today," a McConnell spokesperson told CNN. "As a prudential measure, the leader will be consulting a physician prior to his next event."

Watch:

Last month, McConnell abruptly and awkwardly stopped speaking during a press conference at the Capitol before being whisked away. He later told reporters that he was "fine" and an aide of his told Insider that the senator only stepped away because he "felt lightheaded."

In April, the senator returned to work following a six-week absence after he suffered a concussion and fractured rib in a fall. Following his accident, McConnell's GOP colleagues in the Senate said he was "tough as a boot" and predicted he would recover quickly. It was later revealed he fell two other times this year.

A representative for McConnell did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

That is the problem with career Establishment politicians on both sides. All they know how to do is get reelected; and gather more power for themselves to leverage large donations. They are soon "too big to fail".

There are at least 5, probably more, that are well past their expiration dates; and can't do their jobs anymore.  Staffers and aides do all of the work; while their fellow politicians provide cover and pretend nothing is wrong.

For crying out loud, somebody put a stop to this. It's not just irresponsible to the country, it's cruel to the man.

If he can stay conscious long enough.

It is just not McConnell.

Feinstein (age and health), Fetterman (health), and Brandon (age, health, and career criminal) must go as well.

There are probably more than that, who are just hanging on going through the motions allowing their staff and aides to do the work. While they avoid any media that would dare out their condition. McConnell's problem is he has an R behind his name rather than a D.

Very few are going to jump to his defense- outside of Republican Senators that are beholden to him for campaign funding.

He definitely should step down as minority leader, he probably won't retire as the Governor is a Dem.

Another indication that 80 year olds shouldn't be in leadership positions of our country.

I wouldn’t say that no 80 year-old can do the job, but this one clearly can’t.

the Governor is a Dem

Even if that’s the thing preventing him from stepping down, that shouldn’t stop Chuck Schumer. You’d think he could initiate something.

Schumer's not going to touch this. First he doesn't have the votes in the Senate. Second he would have to do something about Feinstein and Fetterman; and he sure as hell isn't going there.

So it’s not just an “old boys club.” It’s an old old old old boys club.

I suppose it's pretty ironic that he glitched when asked about running for re-election.

McConnell isn’t the only one who needs to retire.    I can think of a POTUS and at least two other senators that should as well.

It is far from a sure thing that the Republicans can win the Senate and the presidency in 2024. Without both his power in the Senate is not where he would like it to be. Call it a career and sit on a rocking chair on the veranda and enjoy the evening breezes.

Brandon, Feinstein, and Fetterman can join him.

Three of them can reminisce about the gold old days; and Fetterman can berate them for not being liberal enough.
