The Biden administration dramatically accelerated the rate at which it forced federal immigration officials at the border to release illegal immigrants into the country and did not place them in court proceedings.

A new report from NBC News found that nearly 600,000 immigrants in total were paroled into the United States between March 2021 and last month and tracked electronically.

The Biden administration increased at an exponential rate over the past year its dependence on a new parole program in which immigrants were let out of custody without court dates, resulting in no legal accountability for the federal offense of unlawful entry.

The lack of follow-through on the Biden administration's direction comes one year after the Washington Examinerreported that 47,000 illegal immigrants who were released without a date to appear in immigration court had never showed up at Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices nationwide to get added to the court docket.

Immigrants released at the border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection or ICE do not need to be seeking asylum but have the ability to do so as they navigate legal proceedings.

Letting immigrants out of custody rather than putting people at immigration detention centers nationwide has occurred at a greater rate under President Joe Biden than previous administrations, in part, because of Democrats' strong opposition to ICE's reliance on for-profit government contractors who operate the centers.

As a result of the increase of paroling immigrants into the country, ICE is putting more people in its Alternatives to Detention program, where ankle monitors and phones send the user's whereabouts to ICE.

One downside to paroling and tracking people electronically is that immigrants do not appear in court, where they must be present to make an asylum claim.

Many immigrants do not seek asylum at any time, from being apprehended at the border to the point in time that a federal judge may rule they have no case to stay. However, for immigrants who are fleeing persecution, the opportunity to seek help once in the country hinges on the court system.

Prior to the Biden administration, immigrants released from custody were given documents known as notices to appear, which stated when and where to appear in court. Under Biden, the DHS shifted to giving immigrants notices to report to ICE when they reached their final destination in the U.S. ICE would then provide each person with a court date.

The administration resorted to issuing notices to report as a last-ditch effort to process people in custody more quickly as illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border spiked in March 2021. Issuing the documents allowed the Border Patrol to save time processing people who were in custody.

Republicans have also questioned the reliability of ICE's Alternatives to Detention program because its tracking monitors do not require immigrants to check in with the agency in person.

Because somebody who can't abide by the law is going to report to ICE as instructed.  Fucking idiots.

Adding a population  the size of Detroit to the country over a few months  without any oversight or plan.

I'm sure it will turn out well..

The border simply became a processing center.
