Texas shows no sign of complying with Justice's Monday deadline to remove buoy immigration barriers | Just The News

Texas and GOP Gov. Greg Abbott show no sign of complying with the Justice Department's Monday deadline to remove buoys anchored in the Rio Grande River to stop illegal immigration, or at least being discussions on the matter, or face a lawsuit.
In a letter sent last week, the agency has given Abbott and intern state Attorney General xxx until 2 p.m Monday to comply, saying the buoys create "serious risks" to public safety and the environment and violate federal law.
Texas also has razor wire along the Rio Grande, which also is an issue.
Over 80 Democratic lawmakers sent a letter Friday to President Biden calling on him to investigate Abbott's "dangerous and cruel actions."
Abbott says Texas has "sovereign authority," to protect the border, according to CNN.
Keep it civil.
Keep it on topic.

So exactly what federal law is being broken? If it's border laws, then how are they enforcing it? It's hypocritical to enforce only PART of the law. But then again, the Biden Dumpster Fire hasn't enforced ANY to date..
"Serious risks" to whose public safety? Certainly not to those legally on this side of the border. Those on the other side have no business trying to cross that river illegally to begin with.
We all know the Democrats are more worried about those crossing the border illegally than they are about US citizens.
Ain't that the truth.
I think the only "public" in the water are those the Democrats have been welcoming with open arms. And I'd just love to see the enviornmental impact studies these idiots did to claim the barriers are an environmental hazard.
So would I. Seems like any time there is something they object to,, it gets the "environmental hazard" bullshit. Just like the wall.
The "environmental" thing is their fall back. When all else fails they'll make that unfounded claim (Democrats seem to be good at that unfounded thing) and get the environmentalists panties in a wad for a day or two.
Per Merrick Garland's Department of Injustice:
Since when can a State Governor withdraw his individual State from US treaties? We have a treaty with Mexico governing the use of the Rio Grande River.
Did you read your linked document? I did. There is nothing in it that stops the bouts from being placed in the river. It mostly deals with how the water flowing in the river will be divided between the two countries.
