THE NEWSTALKERS COOKBOOK

We are all home and I thought you all may have some of these ingredients in your house to make some bread pudding. This is a very simple recipe that only has a few ingredients in it. I got this recipe from my mother-in-law and we make it quite often. You may add some raisins or other things if you wish, but my husband likes it plainer so I make it just like it is.

Ingredients:

5 slices of toasted white bread torn into pieces.

2 cups of milk.

1 Tablespoon of Butter.

1/4 teaspoon of salt.

3/4 cup of sugar (granulated).

2 large eggs.

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Put broken up bread in a 2 quart baking dish (not greased) I use glass. In a medium saucepan, put the rest of the ingredients in and cook until warm. Do Not Boil.

Pour the the heated mixture over the bread. I also sprinkle some nutmeg over the bread, you don't have to if you prefer not to.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 50 minutes.

It will be puffy then it will settle, add any toppings you want or leave it just like it is.

Hope you enjoy and this will help brighten some things up.

This sounds really good.  I love bread pudding, but never make it because I'm the only one in the house who'll eat it.

The best bread pudding I've ever had was from a local restaurant.  They made it with banana bread.  Decadent.
