Very impressive pictures Mac. The sightseeing boat floating across the universe is truly very inspiring. I wonder what it might be like if there really was such a boat. The heavens are so full of mystery and wonder.
Excellent photos and reproductions. It was heartwarming to see the Ontario sightseeing steamship - awakened the nostalgia of personally seeing around 70 years ago similar steamships that cruised the Muskoka Lakes of Ontario - shown in this internet photo:
This is a photo of the Branson Belle tied up to her dock on Table Rock Lake MO.
She was in this position with a full crew and passengers when the storm hit that sank the Duck Boat. Some crew members and passengers were responsible for pulling some of the survivors from the water.
Beautiful photos Kavika. The park looks very inviting, and I do like the Spanish Moss on the trees. Some may not think of them as being elegant, but, when I see it flowing about in the breeze it looks so elegant and peaceful.
A beautiful peaceful park, well depicted in your photos. Peaceful - the Hebrew word "Sholom" translated is "peace", and the word is used in greeting as "hello" and "goodbye".
Indeed G. It has been very hot here as well. 109 here in the Inland Empire on one day and in the triple digits for most all week last week and this week. Hopefully, we will see some cooler weather coming soon as October arrives. However, that does not always work, as we have seen triple digit heat on Christmas Day many times. So Cal goes by its own calendar and weather.
When I was a kid growing up in L. A. I liked the 100 degree weather sometimes. Summer vacation. Beach weather... But not any more! Give me 65-75 degrees, morning fog, some clouds and a nice cool breeze... every day... and rain, please!
Give me 65-75 degrees, morning fog, some clouds and a nice cool breeze... every day... and rain, please!
My not likes the cold. My likes warm. Maybe not 109 degrees, but, warm. I keep my Thermostat set at 83 degrees year round. All I do is switch from heat in winter and to A/C in summer.
Thanks Perrie. She was a great artist. It didn't take her very long to complete a painting. She had an art degree from UCLA and taught high school art before my parents got married. She used to paint when I was young, but then she stopped for many years. After she retired, my brother and I got her to start painting again, and she did, painting a lot of paintings. This is just one of many. When she passed away a few years ago, I gave away over 70 paintings she had at her house, mostly to my cousins and their kids. A lot of them were stacked up in a bedroom. If she had known they wanted them, she would have given them away herself. I have several of her painting hanging at home.
That painting is with acrylics. She stopped painting with oils decades ago. Oils were way too messy, and she had to use turpentine to clean the brushes. I do have some nice oil paintings she did.
As I mentioned to Kavika (see below), it's hanging over the fireplace in our den. Brick fireplace. Inside. Indoors. (Do Canadians spell it "Indours"?) In the house. En la casa.
LOL. Canadians don't "add" letters to English words, Americans "remove" letters from English words - probably because it makes the English language easier for them. In any event, I've never seen an English word where a "u" follows a double "o" or replaces what is normally the second "o" with a "u". Dans la maison.
These photos were taken in Port Aransas TX a few years ago. We would walk the dogs along the boulders and they were both fascinated with this particular pelican who we named Clyde.
Beautiful array of pottery G. No matter how large the item might be, it always looks very delicate and elegant.
The blind musician is quite impressive with his old instrument. But, even though it is very rustic, having heard that kind of instrument being played myself, it has a really beautiful tone when in the right hands, and it looks as if this one truly is.
If a person has been around a blind person,or people, for any length of time, it is fairly easy to tell if they are really blind or merely pretending. My Maternal Great-Grandmother was blind, and I used to spend time in the summer with her and take her out for walks in the warm weather. They have a body language all their own, and develop ways to find their way around by themselves when necessary. Everyone is different in this, but, there are some similarities. Also, the way they hold you hand when you offer them support and guidance when required or desired. Gram was very independent and did not want a lot of hand holding in the way of help. She would never ask for my help, but, the way she would touch my hand told me she would like me to offer assistance in an unspoken gesture.
I thought it might be the same water wheel, but, as I recall, the picture was taken from a different angle and it didn't show the boat. Very nice location.
The framing makes me think it would make a great postage stamp.
LOL! Only you Buzz...(big grin) Actually, it was not what I was trying to achieve, but, it got there and would not go away, as I had no idea how it got there in order to change it. So.......well.......it is a bit different. (grin)
Very interesting information G. Most of all, that the Marble Boat is actually made of wood and only painted to look like it is made entirely of stone. A very clever idea.
...wearing his trademark coveted Greek Fisherman's cap that he purchased at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, but which eventually disintegrated a number of years ago.
What, in your artistic imagination, have you portrayed her doing?
She is a Medicine Woman, and she is conducting a healing chant. This is one of my earliest creations. I was still trying to get my thinking cap fitted. (grin)
I posted the stamps as a response to Buzz's comment at 19.2. about your wonderful image. After all, he is Canadian... I got them from the internet, trying to keep with the "float your boat" theme, for the most part. I actually think they are very artistic and very nice. And, I couldn't resist Queen Victoria!
I was just thinking that when you use such great burled wood frames they both enhance and compete with your superb images, especially when your image is as reflective as that one.
Thank you Buzz. I know you like the wood burl effects, as do I. Wood burls have a personality, if you will, of their own, and when combined with a specific image they can help complete the desired effect.
Thanks G. When I first started creating the Native American artwork I worked with mostly wood burl background and framing, as it compliments the images so well. As I moved on into other areas of the artwork I worked with other types of backgrounds and framing to give a wider variety of enhancements. But, the wood burls have always been my favorite. I suppose because I worked with the wood burl clocks for several years as well.
A super photo - Although I spent a lot of time over many years in Florida, I'm sorry I never got as far as Key West. Having majored in English Literature, and even took a course on his works, I would have liked to have toured Hemingway's museum home, and maybe had a drink at his farourite bar.
Mother Earth is caretaker of all living things on earth. The artwork depicts her relationship with some of the Native American Spirit Guides and Birth Totems.
Here is guide for the Birth Totems....if this is not what you are looking for, please let me know.

Sailing into this week's artice.
cool pics Amac.
Love "Off the Coast of Maine". Picture perfect.
Very great photos. "Off the Coast of Maine" is spectacular!

I like the paddle wheels at the rear.
These photos were taken at Sholom Park in Ocala Fl. It's about a mile from our house.
Here is a link to the park. It's quite unique.
Beautiful photos Kavika. The park looks very inviting, and I do like the Spanish Moss on the trees. Some may not think of them as being elegant, but, when I see it flowing about in the breeze it looks so elegant and peaceful.
Thank you for sharing. Very nicely done.
A beautiful peaceful park, well depicted in your photos. Peaceful - the Hebrew word "Sholom" translated is "peace", and the word is used in greeting as "hello" and "goodbye".
Evening....looks a lovely place to refresh the soul...and find peace when you need it.....
Looks like the perfect place to meditate.
That is the stated purpose of the park, Mac. It's truly a wonderful place all 44 acres of it.
Here is a nautical photo. Splitrock Lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior in MN. (taken from the internet)
3...2...1...
We seem to be hitting peak colors. This was taken at Boulder Lake, MN last Saturday. It was raining.
Nice photos! I wish we had some rain around here. It's been over 100 degrees the last 3 days. It got to 108 a couple of days ago.
I had to scrape frost of my windshield a couple of weeks ago.
I've never had the pleasure...

EG, love the second photo. Great composition.
3...2...1....Take off
Wow! Yet again a comment I posted disappeared. Trying again....
That is a fantastic bird shot - absolutely unique. And the landscape is superb.
A painting by my mother.
Lovely painting G. It's got very nice touches of impressionism and realism. Mom had talent!
Thanks Perrie. She was a great artist. It didn't take her very long to complete a painting. She had an art degree from UCLA and taught high school art before my parents got married. "paintings"
A lovely painting by your Mother G. The tepid colors give the feel of tranquility and pleasure. Very nicely done.
Thank you so much Raven Wing. Some of her paintings really set the mood for the room in which they are hung.
That is a great asset of a painting, when it can set the mood for a room, or even vise versa.
My mother used to paint with oils as well. Looks like you mounted it OUTSIDE. LOL
That painting is with acrylics. She stopped painting with oils decades ago. Oils were way too messy, and she had to use turpentine to clean the brushes. I do have some nice oil paintings she did.

Oui.
Thanks for the lesson in Canadianese!
Beautiful painting. Yup, mom did have talent.
Thanks Kavika. This one is hanging over the fireplace in our den at home. It is in keeping with today's "whatever floats your boat" theme.
These photos were taken in Port Aransas TX a few years ago. We would walk the dogs along the boulders and they were both fascinated with this particular pelican who we named Clyde.
Clyde
Clyde does look like he might be a friendly sort, from a distance anyway. It's interesting how they can fold up into such a small space.
Terrific bird shots, Kavika.
Great start to this week's article!
Here is a creation for Thursday. I hope you enjoy.....
That is a great image!
Thanks G.
If that's supposed to represent looking in a car's review mirror, then the driver should be scared, very scared. LOL
Funny
Only one thing to say....
RUN!!!!!!!!
A blind street musician, Beijing
A colorful display at a large Beijing marketplace
Beautiful array of pottery G. No matter how large the item might be, it always looks very delicate and elegant.
The blind musician is quite impressive with his old instrument. But, even though it is very rustic, having heard that kind of instrument being played myself, it has a really beautiful tone when in the right hands, and it looks as if this one truly is.
I have seen similar street musicians in China, although I'm not so sure how blind they were. As for the pottery - that is quite a display.
This musician isn't on the street, and not looking for donations, but on the shore of a lotus pond around the corner from us:
If a person has been around a blind person,or people, for any length of time, it is fairly easy to tell if they are really blind or merely pretending. My Maternal Great-Grandmother was blind, and I used to spend time in the summer with her and take her out for walks in the warm weather. That's a nice photo, especially with the great reflection in the pond.
OK then … street musician … restored photo.

Interesting. Is that a type of hurdy-gurdy?
Interesting. Is that a type of hurdy-gurdy?
I believe so.
Boats? You want boats?

Kavika once said that he thought the 1952 Hudson Hornet, one of which had been owned by my father, LOOKED like a boat.
Photo #3 has a boat and water wheel. If there was a musician in that photo it would be a perfect trifecta.
I posted a photo of that water wheel in the previous Thursday/Friday article.
I thought it might be the same water wheel, but, as I recall, the picture was taken from a different angle and it didn't show the boat. Very nice location.
The Hudson was also known as the ''Bath Tub''.
Think about how cars that followed became quite boxy, and now almost 70 years later, they're back to looking like clam shells.
Nice array of boats Buzz.
A little texture and a lot of contrast...
This isn't a bird photo!
Thank goodness, I was totally confused for a minute.
Good nature shots. I can almost hear the tap-tap-tapping. My caption for the deer photo - "Forget something?"
The bird is a Hairy Woodpecker female.
A boat for Friday.
© A. Mac/A.G.
Looks like a nice catamaran. With what appears to be a storm approaching, good thing it is out of the water.
Nce photo of a beached boat, here's mine of a lost boat...
Where did you find it?
At the edge of a marsh off a small lake near Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Here is a photo of the lake...
Beautiful scene.
In a land and time long, long ago.........
Wonderful
Thanks G. I wanted to do something different, but, still in keeping with Indigenous Tribes.
You hit it out of the park with this piece, RW.
Thank you Kavika. A civilization well before its time. Yet, it lead the way for many other Tribes who came after.
Wow. That is really neat. The framing makes me think it would make a great postage stamp.
LOL! Only you Buzz...(big grin) Actually, it was not what I was trying to achieve, but, it got there and would not go away, as I had no idea how it got there in order to change it. So.......well.......it is a bit different. (grin)
Stone boat at the Summer Palace, Beijing
Zhouzhuang (Ancient water town), China
Boat model, Muzium Sabah (Sabah State Museum), Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia
I love that stone boat. Just beautiful. So much excellent detail. And even their smaller boats are so well decorated. Very nice display G.
Thanks Raven Wing. I love the stone boat, too, but I'm not so certain how well it floats!
Not sure I would want to test drive that one either.
I wonder what the purpose for it was at the time.
Here are some very interesting links about it :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marble_Boat
Interesting info on the boat.
Very interesting information G. Most of all, that the Marble Boat is actually made of wood and only painted to look like it is made entirely of stone. A very clever idea.
Buzz wuz there...
...wearing his trademark coveted Greek Fisherman's cap that he purchased at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, but which eventually disintegrated a number of years ago.
You ain't gonna get that Summer Palace boat to float. As for museum boats, here's one from a diorama in the Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing:
Sunset at the clubhouse pool last night. Stone Creek, Ocala FL.
Beautiful sunset. So peaceful and serene. Very enjoyable.
You have great sunsets there.
Great photo of a terrific sunset.
Another for Friday...
That is very nice. What, in your artistic imagination, have you portrayed her doing?
She is a Medicine Woman, and she is conducting a healing chant. This is one of my earliest creations. I was still trying to get my thinking cap fitted. (grin)
Cool. I thought it might be something like that.
Interesting format and background.
Thanks Buzz.
Here is one to start Saturday off.....
Excellent - image and frame.
Thanks Buzz. I truly appreciate the feed back as well.
That really is great. What is the blue orb? It looks like maybe it is the distant Earth, or a planet, with swirling clouds.
It is to represent earth.
Canadian postage stamp collection
The Canadian dime also has the image of the "Bluenose" on it.
This dime is worth $45,000.00!
I collected coins when I was a kid, but I never had anything valuable.
We have a jar full of coins. They are worth face value. That's it...
Very nice stamp collection G.
I posted the stamps as a response to Buzz's comment at 19.2. about your wonderful image. After all, he is Canadian... "posted the stamps"... hmmm...
I'm glad to receive your stamp of approval! (It looks like I beat you know who to the pun...)
Your a winner with the puns today G.
That is a nice addition. I always admired her.
"posted the stamps"
I didn't even realize what I had done with that until I went back and read it later. It was definitely unintentional, not "pun-intentional".
I guess A. Mac isn't around right now. He is hands down the punniest!
This group is starting to be a punner's paradise.
I am enveloped by such deliveries. Stay zoned in.
See... I was right. The pun "post" master is here.
Yep. He's the supreme punster - a mail, rather than a femail one.
Pun-Postmaster General...

Just beautiful.
A super photo - Although I spent a lot of time over many years in Florida, I'm sorry I never got as far as Key West. Having majored in English Literature, and even took a course on his works, I would have liked to have toured Hemingway's museum home, and maybe had a drink at his farourite bar.
Very nice photo. The colors are bright and cheerful, and the blue of the water looks so inviting.
I may have some pics of Hemingway museum; will check.
Although it's still Sunday for you, It's Monday morning for me, so here's my "Monday" boat photo:
Looks like a floating trolley car.
A big thank you to all for another successful article.
Thank you! Lots of fun for everybody.
Wow!! That's a really fancy 'dressed' boat. Very nice photo Buzz.
It was to celebrate the lunar New Year, which is when we went to that park.
Thanks for the info on the boat decorations.
Nice. When we visited China it was just before the lunar New Year and they were starting to decorate.
Something for Monday to start the week off. Have a good one.
RW, please post the iconography for the image … interesting & intriguing.
Mother Earth is caretaker of all living things on earth. The artwork depicts her relationship with some of the Native American Spirit Guides and Birth Totems.

Me too!
OK..here is the Birth Totem information for the Deer Totam..

I'm a Snake. Hisssss........
Otters are fun....here is your Birth Totem..
Well, okay, but I did divorce my first wife...,.
You might be interested to know about the snake as a Chinese astrological symbol, even if you were not born during a year of the snake.

I am snake year born.
I was born in the year of the Monkey according to the Chinese zodiac.
Mine is the year of the Rat.
Monday's image … WE VOTED THIS MORNING.
Yay!!! Early voting starts today in California. As soon as we receive our ballots in the mail my wife and I will vote. We cannot wait!
I am in So Cal and so looking forward to voting. I have been voting by mail for years, and this year will be no different. I am anxiously waiting for my ballot in my mailbox so I can let my voice be heard.
Well done!!!
Definitely the best picture on here! What a glorious thing, our right to vote.
Excellent. I wish more Americans would take the opportunity to do in person voting, since I'm concerned about what is going to happen with the mailed-in ballots.
Awesome !
I was going to say "Pretty in Pink" (Isn't that a movie title?) but this one looks kind of tougher - so "pretty" isn't the right word.
