I've always believed that a REAL fly fisherman/woman is one who ties their own flies.  I've tried fly fishing a couple of times, but much prefer still fishing with live bait and casting.spoons and lures.

They ride the thermals and circle the sky majestic to see and just stand and watch.

No for some reason here they aren't afraid. All different species combine and attack from seagulls magpies plovers crows and others. I have seen up to 20 odd birds all having a go..

They will also attack Hawks as well and they are all screaming their different alarm calls.

The wedgies still glide along just occasionally flicking their wings at them and move off.

Farmers use to shoot them as they carry off lambs etc but they are protected now but occasionally a dead Eagle is found.

It is indeed a creations based upon the Tlinglit designs. Many of them have the Raven in them, and they are known for their Raven dances. Their atwork is truly interesting and rather different from many of the Tribes in the lower 48 states. But, it is also very Spiritual.

Although, by adult standards, they must seem pretty amateurish, for a seven year old they're pretty good.  I just got these shots this morning.  The lantern was done in art class by my youngest grandson.

Last year, during the Chinese New Year, our friend Buzz very kindly sent me some work he did on it for my older grandson's 4th Grade class, including photos and an explanation of what goes on during the New Year celebration.  I put it all on a flash drive and sent it on to his teacher.  She shared it with the rest of the staff and this is one of the results.  The kids in the 2nd Grade made these this week in art class.  Great job Buzz.  What you sent last year inspired greater understanding of the customs and art work of other cultures.

I copied the word dyslexically from the dictionary and Windows has underlined it in red.  Now you know how much you can trust Windows' spelling ability.

When I lived in No Virginia, I would often visit the Shenandoah Valley and Mountains, and I would see quite a few hawks buzzing around them in a determined search for food. Once one would find something and zoom in the others would follow along as well. Then shortly they would all take to the sky again and continue the search. It was fun to watch them trying to watch for food and also watch each other for the signal one of them found something. They really were a hoot.

But not very effective spelling on my part.  I blame my more recently wandering middle finger of my right hand - not only does it take precedence and dominate my touch-type spelling by inserting the letter "i" where it doesn't belong, but I've also started to type words dyslexically.  Now this is interesting, I copied the word dyslexically from the dictionary and Windows has underlined it in red.  Now you know how much you can trust Windows' spelling ability.

I copied the word dyslexically from the dictionary and Windows has underlined it in red.  Now you know how much you can trust Windows' spelling ability.

I can understand your dilemma. I broke my little finger on my left hand playing volleyball many years ago while reaching for the ball, and it landed right on the tip of my little finger breaking it. It never healed properly and over the years it has locked up on me more and more. As it would not react properly I could no longer play my violin, piano, folk guitar or flute, as the little finger would lock and then not be able to unlock for me to be able to play them successfully.

So then typing the little finger will sometimes lock up and I will hit the wrong key. And indeed I do know what you mean about not being able to trust Windows spelling. It often can't spell any better than I can, so I have to check the web dictionaries for correct spelling.

I don't know who at MS is in charge of proofing the Spelling feature, but, they need to cross-check their spelling with the on-line dictionaries as well. jrSmiley_78_smiley_image.gif

That is very beautiful.  I wish it was a little larger so we could see it even better.

An excellent image, and perfectly complemented by your choice of framing (and you KNOW I like burled wood. LOL)

Thank you Buzz. And yes, like me, I know that you really like wood burl backgrounds. The various types of wood burls have their own Spirituality and 'personality', much like a trees fingerprint, that adds to the overall story of the artwork.

Here's one for Monday to carry us over to Thursday...

A Choctaw Fancy Dancer....

And if any of you are not able to see the artwork clearly and need it made larger, please don't hesitate to let me know, and that goes for all my artwork. I very am happy to make it larger so that everyone can enjoy it.

The Fancy Dance costumes are breathtaking, so well depicted in that image.  But you deprive us of their brilliant colours, although that enables us to focus more clearly on the design and variation of idividual artistry.

You described exactly why I created the artwork as I did. I tried a B/W, however, it was much to stark and really did not do justice to the subject. So I tried several more variations and finally settled on this one.

While it does not show the vibrant and varied colors of the Fancy Dance regalia, it does, as you have correctly stated, brought the focus on the design of the regalia and the role it plays in the dance.

I am very glad that you were able to see the purpose of the artwork so clearly. Well done!

Great photo, Buzz. The bright colors of the various sizes and designs of the containers in the kiosk are truly amazing.  They appear to be plastic instead of pottery. Or am I wrong.

Thanks Buzz. I saw the designs in the two in the lower right corner and thought perhaps they were a combination of plastic and pottery.

Yeah, the one on the bottom right with the design does look like it could be pottery but I doubt that it is.
