Your tree has been planted!

Dear Mr. and Mrs. A. Macarthur, thank you again for the order you placed through Tribute Store in memory of Lawrence Crehore.

This email is to let you know that your tree has been planted in Crawford County, Michigan as part of the Kirtland’s Warbler Recovery Project. This project, led by American Forests and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, aims to plant 1.8 million jack pine seedlings in 2020 to restore habitat for the rare Kirtland’s warbler.

Kirtland’s warblers are uniquely picky — they prefer jack pines between 5 and 20 years old that sit on Grayling sand with upwards of 1.5 acres available. Because of wildfire suppression, these young trees have diminished, and with them the warblers’ territory. But thanks to you, we’re one step closer to saving this bird, which was recently de-listed from the Endangered Species Act after being on the list since 1967. It is the first songbird ever de-listed.

Thank you again for your purchase in honor of Lawrence Crehore. Together, we’re helping to restore habitats like this one across North America.

Wonderful tribute Mac, I'm sure Larry will be pleased that the circle of life continues.

Larry was a good friend. For those who were not aware of his passing, he died last fall.

I used to call Larry while I was on my way down to my favorite fishing hole in the Poconos and would occasionally quip with him and say, "If you can get on a plane and get here before sunset, you can fish with me". Sadly, that never materialized, but, I did spend some time with Larry a few years back when I was in Colorado.

Almost every evening, while at that fishing hole, if the sunset was a good one, I'd photograph it with my iPhone and send the image to Larry, Kavika and Buzz; I am glad I thought to do that.

I miss him every time I head down to the water.

A very thoughtful and sincere tribute to your dear Friend Larry. I am sure that he is smiling down on the tree you planted just for him, as he waits for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge so you two can have fun making up the "The fish that got away" stories together.

First of all, I didn't know Larry had passed. I am so upset. I loved the guy. He was such a fine man, great husband, father, and a true patriot who suffered greatly while being held as a POW in Vietnam.

What a wonderful way of remembering him, Mac. I think I will do the same.
